  1. @PaulHammond51 reminds me that today is the 5th anniversary of #Perseverance landing on the surface of #Mars, hanging under the #SkyCrane as seen in this #OutOfThisWorld image it captured the moment the umbilical cord connecting them was cut, and the Sky Crane veered off to a heroic crash about 900m NW.

  3. Nice talk by Dr. Nigar Shaji at IUCAA with first look at proposed ExoWorlds space telescope at L2 and Mars Landing Mission (MLM) EDL profile with Skycrane based approach to lower rover.

  5. Here is something that looks like one of those thermal blanket fragments from the #SkyCrane which brought #Perseverance onto the Martian surface and then rocketed away and crashed about 670m NW of the Octavia E. Butler landing site.

Only... that crash site is now about 6.2km ESE of #Perseverance

    Animated zoom. Map follows.

  7. An example of an RTE image showing bright/shinny objects scattered around the Sky Crane crash site.

The image shows the upper right corner of the original.

  8. @65dBnoise I'm always amazed that the engineers manged to persuade the management to even consider as a valid solution - amazing stuff :)

  10. The flew its 24th flight on Sol 398; images were received in 's raw image storage today, but had problems in the metadata. ImageID and Sol metadata were just corrected by . LMST was correct before. My mistake.

Here are some cropped parts showing fragments the at a distance, and a possible one close.
