Watching some #MonsterVerse movies ahead of #GodzillaXKong. I'd hoped to watch it in theaters, but I'll settle for it showing up on Max this week.
First up is #SkullIsland, which I started watching again a while back, but didn't finish. It's a decent flick, but I think Peter Jackson's Skull Island is superior (but maybe I just have a weak spot for Kong fighting T-Rexes). Next is #GodzillaVsKong, which is just dumb fun.

I freely admit, I have a soft spot for #SkullIsland as a place of mystery, wonder, and horror.
I loved Peter Jackson's take on the island because it was so prehistoric - Kong facing off against T-Rex's was epic.
The #Monsterverse though, gives us Kong, equally huge monsters, and hints of the #hollowearth
It makes me want to go there ... if only in role-playing games. :) #TTRPG

CW: [Spoiler] Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season finale (S01E10)
S01E10 of #MonarchLegacyOfMonsters smoothly connected the series to the rest of the #MonsterVerse. Well done.
1. Bill Randa dying on #SkullIsland (as shown in the film), was his “unknown” expedition and never came back, as mentioned by Lee Shaw.
2. Having them returned to the surface through Skull Island, together with Randa's wife, is a good closure of that storyline. They've finally come full circle.
3. #Godzilla is protecting the humans.
4. #Kong still hates it when humans open portals down below.
5. They set how #Apex started (they created #MechaGodzilla in the film #GodzillaVsKong).
6. There is a way to jump through time. By generating a more powerful signal, someone travelling through the portal can be hijacked to the future.

It's a shame it'll be just on Apple TV+, but next week the new MonsterVerse show Monarch: Legacy of Monsters debuts.

🦍 Taking place in the same universe as films such as Godzilla vs. Kong. John Goodman’s Bill Randa character from 2017’s Kong: Skull Island returns, which took place in the ‘70s.
💀 The clip linked above is back on Skull Island - a giant spider fights a new type of beast as Randa watches.
Full series synopsis:
“Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw, taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga — spanning three generations — reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.”
The cast is led by Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell, who will be playing Lee Shaw in the show’s different eras.
More MonsterVerse news-- director Adam Wingard is returning for a sequel to 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong titled Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, due to hit theaters in 2024.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premieres November 17 on Apple TV+.
