Three days ago, the NYT wrote about Justice Amy Coney Barrett's “leftward drift” on the Supreme Court. Today, Barrett wrote an opinion that would allow #Republican lawmakers to do as much state-sanctioned #transphobia as their hearts desire.

@crow @miriamboosh.bsky.social same, I searched through the majority opinion (https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24pdf/23-477_2cp3.pdf ) for “nyt”, “New York times”, “ny times” and couldn’t find a references. I know there are a few (three?) concurrence, I didn’t check those if that’s what the post is referring to.

I want to be clear, New York Times has had a corrosive effect of many aspects of our democracy and society including trans rights and I do not intend to defend nyt, especially their “opinion” pieces. I believe more people should unsubscribe (and stop play wordle).

If anyone finds the nyt reference in the majority opinion or concurrence please share. I’m interested in the article that caused the harm and bring more awareness to what subscribers are paying for.

One mom, Esther, spoke of what she witnessed right after her daughter Kai told her she was trans. “I opened the door, and she was just beaming. She had her headphones in and was just kind of be-bopping and, like, dancing,” Esther recalls. “I'd never seen her smile like that. She'd been suffering with depression, [harming] herself, anxiety for years, and just had this heaviness to her. And it was just gone. There was a lightness.”
