  2. A new skipper for me: Woodland Skipper, Ochlodes sylvanoides.

Lost in the sauce on this lavender plant and let me get close with my phone 😍

  3. Woodland Skipper (Ochlodes sylvanoides) males bask in sunny spots and intensely chase each other, but never while feeding. They often stay at their perches until late in the afternoon.

  4. CW: Butterflies, Bees, Moths on Flowers

Cirsium drummondii These #thistles have gone from mowed over mystery when I first moved back in '07 to presumed cool weed when I let one flower, to realising they're an uncommon native species! (I know no other sites). There's now a decent wandering patch (each plant dies after flowering 3rd year or so) and boy do the #pollinators love them! 5. Colorful Skipper … A photo I took in the garden at our old house way back in July of 2008 This adorable little guy and his brothers and sisters and cousins … there were sooo many of them (they loved our cone flowers) that I practically had to brush them aside as I walked by.

  6. I've always enjoyed skippers, but then I went to Colombia... Now I am a bit obsessed with them. This Apyrrothrix hygieia is one of the firetips. I don't photoshop most of my photos, but for this, I did some heavy manipulation to remove a nasty looking piece of debris from under the hind wings. Is this information appreciated?
