I can’t begin to adequately describe how beautiful it was today up in the Skagit Valley. Sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. Could this be winter? It was a little chilly but I was dressed for success, four layers. We passed by flocks of Trumpeter Swans in the fields. We did a whole loop around Lake Samish. #bicycling #cycling #bike #SkagitValley #SkagitCounty #LakeSamish #WhatcomCounty #PNW #Washington

Hype for the Future 78M: City of Mount Vernon, Washington
Overview The City of Mount Vernon is located on the north side of the Greater Seattle area in the Pacific Northwest to serve as the county seat of Skagit County, Washington, in the United States. The most notable feature of Mount Vernon is the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival; however, as with a number of communities of similar size within the State and into Oregon, the community is also home to a number of art galleries within the general downtown area. -
Awesome day today!
Got to take one of our semi-annual trips up north with my daughter and her husband. Despite the pissing down rain, we headed up into #SkagitValley onto #ChuckanutDriveWe took a nice walk down to the water in #LarrabeeStatePark to check out the rock formations, moss, lichen, and a few teeny mushrooms. Managed to get a bunch of pictures and I'm looking forward to sorting through them tomorrow.
Also stopped by one of my favorite local cheesemongers(Samish Bay Cheese) in the area and picked up partial wheel of cheese and some lebneh cheesecake.
Here's one with my daughter looking south down onto #SamishBay

About a week ago Monday I cycled around the Skagit Valley with a focus on viewing the daffodil fields. #flowers #daffodils #SkagitValley #SkagitCounty #photography #landscape #landscapephotography #yellow #agriculture #PNW #Washington #nature #bicycling

Here's my WTA report of our New Years Eve day hike at Little Mountain Park up in Mount Vernon. But before the hike, we had breakfast at the Train Wreck Bar & Grill in Burlington. It's one of the best dining and drinking places in that area. I had a smoked turkey chimichanga with two eggs over easy on the side. #outside #outdoors #hiking #PNW #WTA #SkagitValley #MountVernon

The timing for the trip, today, was pretty ideal. Not just for the break in the rain; but, also next week is the regional #SkagitValley Farmer's Festival. Which is fun & great if you have never done it, or are showing friends around from out of town. But, the area does, surprisingly get traffic jams and generally overrun by tourists. #PNW #roadtrip #Autumn #Chuckanut

Made it up to #Chuckanut Drive for the 1st time, this #Autumn, to catch some of the leaves turning & enjoy the crisp sunlight.
Had a bit of a roadside picnic with some lemon bars, and pecan bars we scored from the Farm to Market bakery in Edison, WA.Got up there in the late part of the afternoon when the light was just ideal. #PNW #roadtrip #SkagitValley

Sometimes, you just have to get out and touch the sand at the river.
