  1. Saga of the new shelter cat rescue: Penny woke up and #MillieCat was sleeping at her head and #SissyCat was sleeping at her feet. lol Sissy never slept with her. She sleeps with me usually.

Last night was the first time Millie was free to roam outside of the Cat Room basecamp at night

Sissy is now making allowances for Millie, like giving up spaces that she took over after our late #LittleBit passed away. She is holding her spaces that Little Bit gave up when we brought Sissy home from the shelter, though.

  2. 3/ Night One: #MillieCat is spending her first night in segregation in the "Cat room" as she gets used to her new home and family. Mostly, her choice. She does love petting, scratches, and purrs.

She took a cat nap with her head in my hand but that was as far as she would go.

She finally took treats from my hand and played with a little plush toy with me. I kept dropping the treats in front of her 2 or so inches further each time until we were nose to nose almost. When I was petting her, after the treats, she did a roll and body flip to tell me where to scratch.

Penny and I are covering ourselves with her scent and after 8 hours or so, #SissyCat no longer hisses at us. lol. We also are swapping the toys out.

Millie cleaned one of Sissy's plushies and feathers and #SissyCat cleaned a plushie and a feather that Millie played with.

She is missing the shelter. There, she was the queen. #CatsOfMastodon #Cats

This would be easier if Millie would just let us get an FBI background check for her review. She is making us earn it.

When we got Sissy, she came in, got out of the cage, the late #LittleBit hissed at her, she slapped him, and all was well with the world. 😸

  3. 2/ Today, Millie Vanillie, the oldest cat in the shelter, nearly 8 years old, has come to live with us and share her life with us.

Millie is the second rescue from the shelter. We have #SissyCat, adopted in September of 2021, and now #MillieCat

Millie spent more than 4 years at the shelter and was there when Sissycat was.

Penny and Millie know each other because since 2021, Penny normally goes to the shelter once per week just to socialize with the cats for an hour or so.

    From the Humane Society:
"Congratulations to the sweetest old gal in town, Millie Vanillie 👏🐾

Today was a very special day for Millie. Today is her adoption day, making her the newest family member to a very loving family. They are so excited to bring Millie into their lives and we can’t wait to see what life brings her way. Millie was our oldest cat resident, leaving shortly before her 8th birthday.

    Congratulations Millie! 🐾🙏👏"

  4. Wondering if we need to get a companion for #SissyCat since #LittleBit crossed over.

She is active, very active, like always wanting our attention and affection, she likes to play, she does her hunting, brings us her prey, (luckily just bugs so far)

Every morning when I get up there are two or three pieces of food on the yoga mat where I spend most of my time.

She always sleeps in the "vulnerable" position, so she feels safe. Always purring.

She's more affectionate. Honestly. I think Little Bit tried to make sure she wasn't too close to us.

I still wonder if we're not enough, though. If she needs another feline

I'm also afraid if we introduce another cat into the house, it might change her personality. Little Bit changed after we rescued her. He went from fun and curious to "cat of the house" serious all the time. Sometimes full "Karen."

Her personality changed for the better after he crossed over.

Her and Little Bit had their times together, but she was still a little introverted and did her own thing away from him.

    What do you think? #CatsOfMastodon

  5. Some cats spontaneously start playing fetch and we have no idea why

#SissyCat plays fetch. #LittleBit doesn't. I remember the first time it started.

Throw the toy spring and Sissy will go get it and run back as fast as she can and drop it and head back a few feet and turn around and wait for me to throw it again.

Sometimes she brings a spring on her own and drops it at my feet and runs a few feet and flips around, like she is saying, 'Ok, throw it.' #CatsOfMastodon .

  6. The cats have their winter nests under the kitchen low bar next to the heater vent and are happy as they can be. #LittleBit on top and #SissyCat in the cubby.

  7. I lucked out with #LittleBit & #SissyCat. They are two sociable #Cats that need lots of love, touches, pets and play. They demand it. They never grew out of the kitten play phase.

This has helped my #PhysicalTherapy, esp my upper body range of motion as it deals with my spasticity and #parkinsons related body movements.

They are also used to my twitches, movements and tremors.

They're pretty much always within arm's reach needing a touch, a spring thrown or a feather waved.
