Hello to all #XMPP folks in the fediverse. I need some #fedihelp from the community. One of my users on the XMPP server is an iPhone user. She was using #SiskinIM up to now. Now when she opens #Siskin, it is completely empty, no chats, no contacts, nothing. My question now is, what is in the moment the app to go with under iOS? I heard a lot about #Monal in the past, what about #snikket ? -

Within our #SiskinIM app, in an MUC room, you can send #private messages to specific members by accessing the upper-right corner of the MUC room interface and selecting the intended member's name. An option will then appear, as shown in the image below, enabling focused and #personalized communication.

@[email protected] @frankie Setting up #Tigase for calls (with STUN/TURN server) is rather easy: https://tigase.org/blog/tigase-server-with-stun-turn/ especially if you use docker/docker-compose) and then you can use any client and there is a bunch, starting with our #BeagleIM, #SiskinIM and others like #Conversations, #Dino and probably others...
Alternatively you can host your domain on our #Tigase.im/#sure.im servers cutting out difficulty of self-hosting :-)

@neil @RussSharek #SiskinIM does support calls and message notifications, but it requires compatible server (Tigase XMPP Server: https://tigase.org/, https://github.com/tigase/tigase-server) or alternatively prosody also should support it now.

May I suggest you add @SimpleXChat and @xmpp solutions like @snikket_im #Bear and #SiskinIM from @tigase within the Messaging section?

@Monal @Menel @polychrome @jcbrand I recommended iPhone users to install #SiskinIM in the past, but MUC push notifications never worked (even after upgrading to Prosody 0.12) and OMEMO support in group chats was unreliable. Should I recommend Monal instead? I hate to constantly telling my friends to switch apps and try this and that to make "basic" functionality work...

@praveen I tried almost all the XMPP apps for iOS and in the end I found that the best are @snikket_im and #Siskinim. #SnikketIM is based on Siskin and currently is under still development. It's only my personal opinion
