  1. Simplenote torna con un server MCP, sei mesi dopo aver annunciato la fine dello sviluppo

A settembre 2025 Automattic aveva dichiarato Simplenote fuori dallo sviluppo attivo. Sette mesi dopo è arrivato comunque un server MCP in beta per interrogare le note tramite intelligenza artificiale.

  3. God I wish there was a way to view and use #Drafts on Windows. It's literally the dealbreaker to me using it as my new #Simplenote replacement. Really well programmed but every single knowledge management app, without any exception I can conceive of, *needs* to be crossplatform. Mandatory.

  4. @viharm @jarunmb Don't get me wrong. I never said it didn't "work" for me. It did - for a full year. But here's the thing. I have two requirements for notes. One is immediate quick notes - what a lot of people use #AppleNotes, or #Drafts for. But I have #WINDOWS as well. Neither of those work. I use #Simplenote for it. Syncs multiplatform and I could give a fuck about it not being end-to-end secured. #Obsidian for cold-storage of notes. (1/3)

  5. @emory Reading this just makes me more annoyed that #Drafts isn’t on #Windows as well nor is there any alternate way to access its data on that platform even if iCloud is installed. @EpiphanicSynchronicity may have convinced me to switch (back) to #Joplin from #Simplenote for this sort of stuff but I simply can’t use a locked-in system with my workflow. 😕

  6. I really wish I could use #Drafts instead of #Simplenote for quick note entry that syncs across multiple devices. I like it a lot.

Only problem is that it's only available for Apple devices which is basically a dealbreaker for people who use other operating systems. One day the dev will graduate, I hope. One day.

    In the meantime.. Simplenote.

  7. The serious privacy flaw that happened days ago in #SimpleNote made me switch back to using Apple Notes app. Unfortunately it is a pain to manage my notes in #Apple Notes when using #Debian. I would love to be able to use all #iCloud stuff I pay for in #Linux via #PWAs

  8. Just checked and yep, it's the same. #StandardNotes, which has recently been acquired by #Proton, doesn't even give you rich text in the notes without paying at least $90/year. Even #Simplenote allows markup, as does #Obsidian. Nothing to see here, move along. standardnotes.com/plans

  9. OK, wow. #Simplenote v2.22 has been released! FINALLY. v2.21 was released in Oct 2021 ffs. It's my quick note taking app of choice - works on every platform (as opposed to #Drafts), instant syncing, supports markdown, tags and workable checkboxes and is completely free. github.com/Automattic/simpleno

Edit: mmkay, it's a prerelease apparently. Should be out officially soon. Hopefully this century. github.com/Automattic/simpleno

  10. Testing out encrypted Standard Notes as I don't trust Automattic to not be using (or about to use) my years of Simplenote content for AI training...

  11. My note-making journey, as told in apps, from 2000 forward:

    - Handwritten Notes
    - #DevonThink
    - #Evernote
    - #NotationalVelocity
    - #Yojimbo
    - #KeepIt
    - #OneNote
    - #SimpleNote
    - #Bear
    - #GoodNotes
    - #AppleNotes
    - #RoamResearch
    - #Obsidian
    - #Tana
    - #Obsidian (again)
    - #Logseq
    - #Obsidian and #Logseq

And those are just the tools I adopted for at least a month at a time.
