  1. Étoile, a triumph of a series

Étoile looks like a story about ballet, but it's really a series full of funny characters, weirdos, outcasts, big egos, and rampant artistic temperament. The series was created by Daniel Palladino and Amy Sherman-Palladino who directed most of the episodes as well. It's already set for a second season and I can't wait to see it. The characters in this wonderful series hooked me from the first minute. […]

  2. Friend is watching first episode of
#AgathaChristiesMissMarple 2004 (the Body In the Library)
on Britbox and, while I’m normally ho hum about the whole drawing room mystery genre, am delighted to see #SimonCallow and #JoannaLumley are in it.

LOL the “sand” on English beaches

  7. It’s been long enough since I last saw Amadeus I forgot the narrative face-plant of the epilogue. The film objectifying the suffering of nineteenth-century psychiatric hospital “patients” is bad enough, but the way the film ignores it’s spent the second half of the nearly three-hour film away from narrator F. Murray Abraham… Well. It doesn’t go well, dragging […]

  8. Good evening from Thaxted. A quiet day at home. I slept for three hours this afternoon, but am still tired tonight.

I have been a little more interested in the #television and found a couple of things to watch - old programmes mind. The #Mezzotint was probably the best of them. This year's #InsideNo9 disappointed - the Shearsmith character was crass and out-of-place with the pairing of his female partner. The sneakers he wore were ridiculous too. #SimonCallow was a little wasted. Pax!
