A 'Macy's' has grown in my city. I still allow the element of surprise when I'm building.
In my mind the city is a post scarcity economy (its 2500AD) so really this place is about sampling merchandise and wondering whether you life really needs it and nobody goes hungry. Something like that anyway.... -
Two hours we were out of Broadband.....luckily I had Sim City 4 to keep me distracted.

A grand calamity has befallen the venerated Simtropolis site, and over 20 years worth of content was deleted from a server!
Thankfully there are backups, but restoration is no easy process (as I myself found in March) -

Building in Sim City with Anna Von Hausswolff playing in the background is giving it a certain epic flavour.
Someday I will build some kind of hilltop steam organ in the game but for now my priority is replacing the PSU in my PC.
Teaching myself Blender and then making game content for Sim City 4 is the end point, but many material things need to work first. -
Have spent the past 24 hours updating SimCity4. Despite being 20+ years old an update was released recently which allows the script kiddies to do some incredible new things.
The process involved a running battle with despair and anxiety as all things that matter to me do, but thanks to help from the Simtropolis forum we got there.
The new tools I will download tomorrow, for now I shall just savour getting my zen garden back -

My gaming flow continues as I fill in the transport network in and around the Brajonel central metropolitan area. Weaving motorways, Monorails, elevated rails and railways in and out of each other and under ground.

My flow on Sim City 4 continues, working on the transport networks on smaller tiles which are satellites to the bigger tiles I am working on.
Weaving Monorails and highways and railways in and out of each other like cables in a PC. -

Swings and roundabouts. Tried installing the second CPU and still getting the same problem as last time, fans come on but nothing else does. Updating the BIOS hasn't changed that.
But, I had a glitch with my monorail in Sim City 4 that was sorted by installing an update, something I had been putting off since last August! -
Having an excellent gaming flow on SimCity4 tonight, the intercontinental airport I had planned for years is finally taking shape...

Currently backing up my Sim City 4 files to two different locations at the moment.
Someday I'll have the whole thing, operating system and all inscribed onto one of those silicon plates that last for millions of years. That'll give the Raccoon-People something to think about. Hopefully it will be running on Linux by the time it's inscribed...

Have come to terms with the loss of just over a months work on my city by rebuilding the tiles from memory and a single screen shot I took of it before the Thermal Event.
Thankfully it's a game so the whole thing is fun! -

Told it to shutdown my Windows 7 installation which isn't loading...shutdown the whole PC instead!Fuck off VMware Workstation 15 (Later versions are snooty about my CPU), guess I'll have to rebuild the whole thing in VirtualBox, and see how that treats me.
All I want to do is mod lots for Sim City 4, but the program that enables is very old, and Windows 7 is as far as it goes.

Here's what I like to do on a Silent Sunday, find a nice spot in my (Sim)city and just watch the traffic go by.
When I was a child I use to collect Micro Machines, small toy cars, and then drive them around the cityscapes I made with other toys. The vehicles of this game remind of that activity. -
Exciting things are afoot in the Sim City 4 modding community.
Some very clever coding people have come to us over these past few years and done wonders for a 20+ year old game. -
One of end results of this upgrading is so I have a machine capable of doing something with Blender, in which I can create my own buildings for Sim City 4
I do not expect this process to happen overnight.... -
