Project Advancing-this-Game is underway! And the Orioles...*sigh*. I suppose it's inevitable that as the real-life O's decide to reverse field and win ballgames, the simulation O's are dramatically nosediving. We are in sixth place in the Eastern League, 25-27. Hitting is now a problem, as several key players (Hurst at 1B, Charbonneau in LF, Saavedra at SS) turned in some Mendoza-worthy numbers in May, and we got pummeled by the Phillies, the Dodgers, and ffs the Knights even took us 2 out of 3. Pitching has been underwhelming: Scantlebury sits at a 4.59 ERA and O'Toole is 1-6, 4.58. Trevor May had an ulnar ligament come unraveled and is out indefinitely, while Tippy cannot find home plate with a road map and a Hot Wheels track (9.41 ERA).

Adding to the misery, we picked dead last in the draft, grabbing some kids who aren't likely to help us in the near term, with the possible exception of Willie Palacios, a college product originally from the DR who has a fastball my scouts are describing as "whoa!"

It looks like the changes made to the sim have worked:

Hi. Many of you remember that some months ago, I was posting about my simulated #baseball league, the #NABA . And then I stopped. It wasn't because I didn't like it, or that I didn't like you, or because summer came and the #Orioles have been limping along in the AL East (and we're currently losing to the Mariners at the Yards, ffs). It's because I was dealing with some stressful family drama. It's a long freakin' story, and it isn't yet quite resolved, but that's a topic for another time. I want to get back to doing things that are fun and having a life.

(Just an aside to say that on the upside, I may be getting another client venue for my main job, so while that also may affect my free time, things are looking up somewhat. Follow @atomictrivia for more details.)

So at some point in the near future, I'm going to fire up the sim again, dust it off, and get it restarted - probably advancing it to the playoffs and then getting to the 2026 season.
