  1. CW: The War Between The Land And The Sea S01E01

Interesting start of the series. Now I'm curious though: which species came first, Homospondyl Erectus (Homo Aqua), or the Silurians? Was hoping the latter would at least get a mention.

  3. “Rubbish. Why should I waste my time having useless injections against an imaginary epidemic?”

Even 70s Doctor Who had to deal with anti-vaxers.

The real enemy was idiotic bureaucrats the entire time.

  5. The Silurians episode 3. The scene with the Doctor popping into Dr Quinn’s cabin is fantastic. On the one hand, this episode is kinda filler, but Pertwee makes him running around and talking to people a joy to watch.

Fulton Mackay is definitely the best guest star this story.

Unfortunately they don’t give Liz much to do this episode except check in on the security fellow in sickbay.

  7. Thanks to everyone who participated in my Doctor Who poll. It ended in a dead heat, which means I clearly must watch both the Silurians and the Dæmons. Both are excellent, so no regrets there.

    ( @Printdevil is always right.)

  9. Bare with me, but there are similar beats between this story and the #Silurians. After being the voice of peace that is ignored the Doctor goes to the "reasonable" one in the enemy camp and betrays his allies #DoctorWho #ColonyinSpace

  10. This writer should be forced to watch the #Silurians as Dr Who goes on a rampage with a laser pistol. "pump that hole as full of cyanide as you can. Then get some more; get more men...there must not be the smallest chance of any living thing surviving" #DoctorWho #CavernofHorrors

  11. I think #AmbassadorsofDeath is a greatly underrated story. Overall I think I still preferred the #Silurians but fans who avoid this because it is 7 episodes with some dodgy colouring should really give it a try #DoctorWho

  12. As if to make up for most of #Silurians being set in caves and in labs this story is really going for the big set pieces in the middle of the episodes. Last time we had the shoot out and here we have helicopters, motorcycles, explosives, the lot #DoctorWho #AmbassadorsofDeath

  13. This is the third story in a row to make use of the media in the story. #SpearheadfromSpace had the tabloids looking for salacious headlines, #Silurians had an investigative journalist getting the Brigs number and #AmbassadorsofDeath has a TV anchor narrating the plot #DoctorWho

  14. Its a bold choice to end with the Brig (one of our heroes) attempting to commit genocide to the Doctors obvious horror. The Doctor is defeated not by his enemy but by his friend. Still not sure setting off explosions near a nuclear power station is advisable #DoctorWho #Silurians

  15. I can't help but contrast this story with the #Dominators. That story mocked pacifism to an extent I was uncomfortable with. This story lives in a moral grey area where we get a number of conflicting view points and the writer allows respect for most of them #DoctorWho #Silurians

  16. I love the images of the Doctor in a t-shirt actually working against the clock. He may solve the problem by "fusing the control of the neutron flow" but it works quite well. Still no sign of the sonic yet for anyone interested #DoctorWho #Silurians

  17. I wonder how long is supposed to have passed since Spearhead? Liz trusts the Doctor implicitly. The Doctor here asks her to lower all of the uranium at once. She knows it will cause a nuclear meltdown but trusts him enough to do it anyway #DoctorWho #Silurians

  18. The production team claimed that Liz didn't work as they needed an audience surrogate to ask questions. Here though the Doctor is busy sorting stuff out, the Brigadier gets to be the audience surrogate and Liz explains the plot. I think that works #DoctorWho #Silurians

  19. BRIG: Stay here, Miss Shaw.
    LIZ: What?
    BRIG: Stay here!
    LIZ: Yes, of course.
I love the way that Caroline John delivers this line. She could have gone with submissive but instead goes with irritated. She has more important things to do anyway #DoctorWho #Silurians

  20. Nicholas Courtney manages to perfect his telephone acting as he spends a lot of this story behind a desk. Its nice to see this unflappable version of the Brigadier. A stark contrast with the Brig of the comics. #DoctorWho #Silurians

  21. The Silurians eyes are multi-functional. They control technology, melt stone, hypnotise and torture people and even reassemble rock. I wonder why Silurians these days have lost the third eye? I prefer the new design overall but this seems a glaring omission #DoctorWho #Silurians

  22. "If we can't contain it in Britain, what chance has the world got?" As condescending as this line comes across (not sure if that was the intent) we get it while cutting to scenes where no one even uses gloves or face masks when dealing with the infected #DoctorWho #Silurians

  23. "This whole business has been a plot to get rid of me" Its sad to see the breakdown of what I'm sure is a brilliant scientist. I would recommend the Big Finish audio The #LastPost which deals with what is happening here and is generally brilliant #DoctorWho #Silurians

  24. It is all of the scenes around London with Masters I love. The train station, the people collapsing in the streets, ordinary life. Their attempts at contact tracing are doomed from the start. Using the real world is common now but feels fresh here #DoctorWho #Silurians

  25. The music in this story is...odd to say the least but you get used to it. Believe it or not I'm actually enjoying it in this episode #DoctorWho #Silurians

  26. "My staff are suffering the ill-effects of a series of compulsory injections." "useless injections against an imaginary epidemic" "I will admit nothing. There is no epidemic" The different reactions to the infection are eerily prescient #DoctorWho #Silurians

  27. If you read the script alone I'm sure that the young Silurian is just impulsive but through an unfortunate combination of the prosthetic and the voice he is coming across as a petulant child #DoctorWho #Silurians

  28. LIZ: I am a scientist, not an office boy.
BRIG: You're a member of UNIT, Miss Shaw, and you'll do as you're told!
There is a deadly disease threatening the whole world and the Brig wants one of the countries top scientists manning a phone. This is ridiculous #DoctorWho #Silurians

  29. The Doctor warns everyone to keep away from Baker and yet what does the Brigadier do when he collapses other than go and touch the body with no PPE whatsoever. You can tell he has never lived through a pandemic #DoctorWho #Silurians

  30. The sad thing about all of this is that the compromise actually works. The Doctor is right, someone needs to make the first move and the Silurian does. Two good men whose plans are ruined by the recklessness of others. I'd forgotten how good this story is #DoctorWho #Silurians

  31. We get our first introduction to Bessie the Doctors trusty roadster. What are the chances that Kate still has this in storage somewhere and can pull it out in time for the next series? I want a scene of 15 and Mel in Bessie #DoctorWho #Silurians

  32. This evening's #DoctorWho nostalgia trip on iPlayer, more Pertwee are fun, with the first entrance of the Silurians, and, of course, Bessie!

  33. The lizards plan to accelerate & surf the climate storm, sheltering behind their slave-built walls, while Virus Delux enthuses those warm blood slaves to work hard & die young, oblivious to harm. A glorious spring awaits the few, & their glutinous eggs- a Brave New Herd
