What a bunch of hooey! Yes, Uranium is natural and should be kept in the ground!!! smh Hey, remember the ads that used to tout, "DDT is good for me!" Yeah, about that. Should we fear ALL chemicals? Of course not. More like, should we fear being LIED to by #BigChemical, who have told us stuff was safe when in fact it wasn't. It seems the author doesn't want to acknowledge the harm done by greedy capitalists, and maybe she should start drinking Roundup to see how "safe" it is. smh.
"Uranium is natural."

A Short History Of The #WholeEarthCatalog
Dan
July 5, 2020"Who remembers the Whole Earth Catalog? Anyone?
"For some, the Whole Earth Catalog was the bible for all things green and #ecofriendly, #offgrid, #BackToNature, and #enviromentally conscious and #sustainable.
"If you think environmentalism is a new phenomenon you’d be wrong.
"The seeds of the movement were planted with the writings of #JohnMuir in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. But perhaps, even more so by the publication in 1854 of #HenryDavidThoreau’s influential masterpiece #Walden.
"The modern environmental movement can arguably be traced back to the publication of #RachelCarson’s classic #SilentSpring in 1962.
"One of the major rallying points for the eco-movement was concern for the #pollution of the Great Lakes.
[...]
"As John Markoff, a technology writer for the New York Times, told the Guardian, the Whole Earth Catalog was 'the internet before the internet. It was the book of the future. It was a web in newsprint.'"

How Rachel Carson’s ‘Silent Spring’ Awakened the World to Environmental Peril
Carson's 1962 bestseller first warned the public about the devastating effects of chemical pesticides—and started a revolutionBy: Cate Lineberry
April 22, 2022"Carson had resisted writing the book for years because of these anticipated attacks from the chemical companies as well as public officials who had accepted their false claims. 'It was a David versus Goliath sort of saga,' says Lear. 'She was uncovering industrial misdeeds and, in the course of that, bringing down powerful men who had been entrusted by the public and shown to be unworthy of that trust.'"
