  1. Anna Boleyn (1920) is by far the most conventional of Ernst Lubitsch's early silent films and the most disappointing. It's a by-the-numbers historical tragic romance epic. Lubitsch was always at his best when he was being wild and crazy.

  2. Ernst Lubitsch's Eyes of the Mummy (1918) sounds like a horror film but it's a romantic melodrama although there's an ancient Egyptian tomb and a curse, and strange and inexplicable events. Pola Negri stars. Early Lubitsch is so wild and crazy.
