  1. Today is the Moon’s Day

Monahdayeg is the Inultaru word for Monday - are you surprised, just a little, that jackalopes use what is essentially the old Anglo Saxon word, Monandæg, for Monday? I was. Today I hope to chisel away some of the curse of Mondays, a curse I inherited from my elders in the Arahdansdag-ba (an explanation for that word will follow presently). Icon Number Forty-Forty features a mask of Sathurvannu, a demalion of the moon. There are many different interpretations for masks of the moon in Inultaru traditions; Sathurvannu is the demalion for the Moon in the Daytime Sky. Needful Magic, no. 113 Last month's solstice project instigated a flurry of cipher-making within the relationship between my asemic muses and the universe. […]

  3. *oooold* things may be coming out of the archives because now I have a computer that can handle downloading photos and videos from storage. It's nice to have these little artifacts back again.

  4. A few hand tattoos from past years, earned in ceremony for all recipients. The third photo is my own left hand, which now contains more embeddings, that image was taken I believe right after finishing the middle finger sigil.

  5. It is the season for hot cross buns, which are lovely.
    Including out of season.
    An account of some testing
    theguardian.com/food/2026/mar/

My particular thing with these buns is to make them with more interesting and varied sigils on top. Not a cross to be seen on mine.
But I don't object to the tradition and will happily eat other bakers' good ones.

let's talk about Spare's approach to servitors and familiars, where chaos meets consciousness in the form of thought-born allies.

Spare didn't view spirits as external entities to be summoned and bound. instead, he saw them as splinters of consciousness given form through intense belief and desire. his familiars weren't supernatural pets, they were aspects of his own psyche given autonomy to operate independently.

his infamous Black Eagle familiar wasn't summoned through elaborate ritual. it emerged from his relationship with actual birds, his artistic observations, and his deep understanding that consciousness can fragment and reform at will. he fed it with attention, belief, and regular interaction.

this is where Spare's genius really shows, he understood that the line between "real" and "imagined" entities is far blurrier than most magicians admit. his familiars were simultaneously psychological constructs AND independent beings. the paradox was the point.

modern practitioners often miss this nuance. they treat servitors like magical robots, programming them with rigid instructions and wondering why results feel mechanical. Spare's approach was more organic, letting these thought-forms grow naturally, develop their own quirks, even surprise their creator.

speaking of thought-forms... the modern Tulpa community has independently discovered many of Spare's principles. while their methods differ, the core concept remains. consciousness can be partitioned and given autonomous form through focused belief and interaction. their experiences provide fascinating parallels to magical familiar work. their teachings may help you here.

    here's the really wild part...

Spare's familiars often manifested through synchronicity rather than spectacle. no dramatic appearances, just an uncanny pattern of meaningful coincidences. the black eagle showed up in art, dreams, random conversations, street signs reality itself became the medium of manifestation.

this is practical chaos magic at its finest. instead of trying to force reality to accommodate your magic, you let your magic work through reality's existing patterns. your servitors become probability adjusters rather than supernatural servants.

**warning - creating autonomous thought-forms isn't like programming an app. they can evolve in unexpected ways, develop their own agendas, even outgrow their original purpose. this isn't necessarily bad, but it requires respect and awareness.**

let's talk about scale and evolution. servitors can grow into egregores when enough people feed them belief and attention. think about brand mascots that take on lives of their own, or how fictional characters sometimes seem to act independently of their creators. the line between servitor and egregore is as blurry as the line between personal and collective consciousness.

digital space has changed everything. our phones aren't just tools anymore. they're familiar spirits in our pockets. AI chatbots, digital assistants, even social media personas can become modern familiars. the internet itself is a vast network of thought-forms, egregores, and digital spirits all interacting in ways Spare never imagined but would absolutely recognize.

ethical creation matters. a few ground rules:
    - give them clear purposes but room to grow
    - don't create them for harm (they will turn that on you)
    - respect their autonomy
    - maintain clear boundaries
    - regular maintenance or respectful retirement

warning signs your servitor might be overstepping:
    - appearing in dreams uninvited
    - affecting areas of life outside its purpose
    - causing synchronicities that feel threatening
    - developing traits you didn't intend
    - consuming too much of your attention

    🚨 CRITICAL WARNING:🚨
never, EVER create servitors with the intent to invoke or merge them back into yourself. they evolve independently and can carry back unwanted changes. you wouldn't drink water you left stagnant for months - don't reabsorb consciousness you've let develop on its own. some doors only open one way.

when it's time to end the relationship, be clear and respectful. thank them for their service, clearly state the work is complete, and consciously withdraw your attention and belief. some practitioners like to create a formal dissolution ritual. others prefer to let them fade naturally. trust your intuition.

consider starting small. create a servitor for a specific, limited purpose. observe how it operates, how it communicates, how it affects your reality. document everything, but don't try to control everything. when you feel they're done, allow them to leave gracefully. Mr. Meeseeks was a warning.

these aren't just tools or pets. they're aspects of yourself given independence to operate in ways your conscious mind can't. treat them with respect, they're as real as you allow them to be.

    common pitfalls

let's wade into darker waters, the places where Spare's students often drown in their own reflection. these aren't just mistakes; they're seductive dead ends that feel like progress.

intellectualization is a comfortable poison. it's easy to dissect Spare's theories until they're just dead things on a table. you can understand the mathematics of sigils perfectly, quote his books verbatim, and still be as magically potent as a brick. why? because magic lives in the spaces between thoughts, in the void where intellect fears to tread. Spare didn't think his way to power, he bled for it.

the most common failure? not actually forgetting the sigil. you craft it perfectly, activate it beautifully, then spend weeks checking for results, wondering if it worked, thinking about what you could have done better. congratulations, you've just strangled your own magic in its crib. the conscious mind is a jealous god; it kills what it watches too closely.

then there's the aesthetic trap, the instagram grimoire syndrome. your sigils are works of art, your altar looks museum worthy, your magical journal could be published. but magic isn't about looking the part, it's about breaking reality. Spare's art was technically brilliant because he was an artist, not because art makes better magic. your perfectly crafted sigils might actually be too precious to forget.

the collector's curse is particularly venomous. gathering techniques like trading cards, never sitting with any long enough to draw blood. Spare worked one system until it became his bones, his breath, his being. he didn't need a library of methods because he understood the one thing that mattered: how to slip past the bouncer of consciousness and dance with the void.

but the deadliest trap? mistaking the map for the territory. Spare's methods aren't THE way, they're HIS way. they're footprints showing where he danced with chaos, not a dance instruction manual. your magic needs to taste like your blood, not his.

think Optimus Prime would be the perfect mythic hero for what you want to do? **use him**

think your coffee grounds are better than tea leaves? **divine them**

think the Mesopotamian goddess Tiamat resonates with your chaos? **work with her** (but remember, nothing worse than pissing off a primordial chaos dragon. learn as much as you can about her)

feel Thor's hammer would make a better magical tool than a wand? **swing it** (but maybe learn the actual lore first)

**quick note: when working with cultural elements, especially from living traditions or closed practices, respect matters. there's a difference between appreciation and appropriation. do your research, understand the context, and when in doubt, ask practitioners. many would love to teach you about their practices if your sincere**

the path isn't about avoiding these traps, it's about falling into them until you learn to recognize the taste of false progress. sometimes you need to drown in theory before you learn to swim in chaos.

Spare developed his system by failing his way forward, not by following someone else's successes. your magic needs to be yours, even if that means breaking everything you think you know about how it should work.

Spare's influence on modern occultism, or how a broke artist with cats changed magical practice forever

remember how punk changed music by showing anyone could do it? same with photoshop and smart phones?

Spare did that to magic. his "fuck your golden dawn cosplay" approach spawned chaos magic and fundamentally altered how we approach practice. he showed us magic isn't about who has the fanciest robes or most expensive tools.

the real revolution came in the 1970s when Peter Carroll and Ray Sherwin discovered Spare's work moldering in obscure bookshops and realized its explosive potential. chaos magic was born in squats and punk venues, deliberately weird and ruthlessly practical.

Carroll took Spare's ideas about belief as a tool and developed them into a complete system. "nothing is true, everything is permitted" became more than a cool quote. it became a practical framework for reality hacking. belief became something to use rather than hold.

then the internet happened. suddenly sigils were everywhere, hidden in plain sight. corporate logos, viral marketing campaigns, social movements.

modern chaos magicians realized something profound: if magic is about manipulating symbols and consciousness, what better medium than the internet? your social media feed is just a technologically enhanced sigil stream, bombarding you with symbols and programming your reality.

Spare would probably laugh at how his ideas evolved. tumblr witches crafting digital sigils, discord servers replacing magical lodges, viral posts becoming mass workings. but he'd recognize the core truth: magic belongs to everyone, works better without pretense, and thrives in the spaces between established power.

as reality becomes increasingly virtual, the line between magic and technology grows ever thinner. Spare's ideas about consciousness and symbols become more relevant, not less. we're all participating in mass consciousness manipulation whether we realize it or not.

we're all chaos magicians now. some of us just know it.

remember: every time you share content that shifts consciousness, you're doing magic. the question is: are you doing it intentionally?

sigil crafting & activation - a practical guide

let's get our hands dirty with sigil magic. this isn't about drawing pretty symbols - it's about hacking your consciousness to reshape reality.

your statement of intent matters. write it in present tense, be specific but not restrictive, focus on what you want rather than what you don't. avoid negatives and keep it within the realm of possibility - magic bends reality, it doesn't break it.

the basic craft: strip your statement down to consonants, remove repeats, and what remains becomes your raw material. arrange these letters into a symbol, then abstract it until the original letters disappear into pure form. keep refining until it feels right in your gut.

some forms your sigil might take:
    - abstract glyphs
    - geometric patterns
    - flowing organic shapes
    - angular runes
    - circular seals
    - asymmetric scrawls

activation is where things get interesting. Spare's favorite was the death posture - pushing your body to exhaustion while holding an uncomfortable position until consciousness cracks. when you can't maintain it anymore, release with the sigil in mind.

but that's just one way in. sexual exhaustion, void meditation, pain, sensory overload - they're all roads to the same destination: that moment when conscious control shatters and your deeper mind opens up. the method doesn't matter, the intensity does.

here's the crucial part: once activated, forget. actively. completely. results appear as coincidence, and lusting after them kills the magic. document nothing. let it work in the shadows of your mind.

start small. respect consent - don't sigilize for others without permission. avoid death/love/money until you know what you're doing. this is consciousness tech, treat it with appropriate caution.

this is just a starting point. experiment. find what works for you. the only real rule is: does it work?

  19. an occult education thread - 🧵 1/?

let's discuss Austin Osman Spare - one of my favorite occult thinkers, despite (or perhaps because of) his complexity. he's the occultist who told the entire magical establishment to go fuck itself, then created one of the most influential magical systems while living in poverty with his cats.

first, let's acknowledge the problems: Spare had some deeply problematic views about race and sexuality that were unfortunately common in his time. we can learn from his magical philosophy while rejecting these aspects. no need to sanitize history - let's learn from both his insights and his failures.

context: London, early 1900s. occultism was dominated by wealthy ceremonial magicians in their golden temples and secret societies. enter Spare: a working-class artist who recognized this as theater masquerading as spirituality.

his core insight was revolutionary: consciousness itself is the barrier to magical practice. those elaborate rituals? merely technologies to bypass the conscious mind so the real work can happen in deeper waters. Spare stripped away the pageantry and went straight for the subconscious.

sigil magic was his crowbar to break reality:
    1. write your desire
    2. remove repeated letters
    3. create a symbol from what remains
    4. forget its meaning
    5. charge it (through exhaustion, sex, pain, or trance)
    6. release through forgetting

why is this effective? your conscious mind acts as reality's bouncer, aggressively filtering desires and possibilities. slip past it, and change becomes possible.

his "alphabet of desire" wasn't merely about manifestation - it was a complete theory of consciousness and will. desire isn't just what you want; it's the raw material of being itself. you are what you want, and what you want shapes what you become.

crucially, Spare rejected ALL hierarchical systems of magic. no grades, no initiations, no "secret chiefs." he understood that gnosis is inherently democratic - available to anyone willing to do the work and face themselves.

this wasn't just philosophical - it was deeply political. by rejecting the need for teachers, temples, and hierarchies, he was rejecting the entire power structure of western occultism. every person their own god, every mind its own temple.

    why does this matter now?
    - power structures still gatekeep spiritual knowledge
    - consciousness remains our primary tool for change
    - magic is still about altering reality through will
    - hierarchies still need to be questioned and challenged

Spare showed us that magic isn't in the tools or ceremonies. it's in the space between thought and desire, in the moment when consciousness blinks and reality shifts.

    remember:
    - desire is the engine of transformation
    - consciousness is both tool and obstacle
    - hierarchies are optional
    - forgetting is as powerful as remembering

  20. an occult education thread - 🧵 1/?

let's discuss Austin Osman Spare - one of my favorite occult thinkers, despite (or perhaps because of) his complexity. he's the occultist who told the entire magical establishment to go fuck itself, then created one of the most influential magical systems while living in poverty with his cats.

first, let's acknowledge the problems: Spare had some deeply problematic views about race and sexuality that were unfortunately common in his time. we can learn from his magical philosophy while rejecting these aspects. no need to sanitize history - let's learn from both his insights and his failures.

context: London, early 1900s. occultism was dominated by wealthy ceremonial magicians in their golden temples and secret societies. enter Spare: a working-class artist who recognized this as theater masquerading as spirituality.

his core insight was revolutionary: consciousness itself is the barrier to magical practice. those elaborate rituals? merely technologies to bypass the conscious mind so the real work can happen in deeper waters.

    - poverty doesn't negate power
    - the best magic looks like coincidence

tl;dr - Spare was early 20th century occultism's punk prophet, and his ideas about consciousness, desire, and power remain revolutionary.

p.s. - yes, this is oversimplified. no, you don't need to know more to start. begin where you are. there will be more forthcoming

  23. Witch Tip: Use your thumb print to create your own personal sigil!

Using an ink pad, take a stamp of your thumb on a sheet of white paper. Then, using a different colored pen, trace over just some of the lines/shapes to inspire the shape of your sigil.

Then, copy just the traced lines onto another sheet of paper. Add any extra designs or details that you want to finish up your sigil.

Feel free to place your sigil wherever you wish or use it as a personal taglock in spells! Create one sigil from your left thumb to use in spells when you want to receive/attract something, and create one from your right thumb for spells that project/repel to an additional layer of correspondence.

The choices are nearly endless from there!

  25. The thing about geometry is that it has postulates. Symbols and their relationships imply rules and formulas. So, when you combine magical symbols with geometry, it implies a relationship, rules, and postulates. It really frustrates me when people circumscribe magical ciphers and words within geometric figures where there are no underlying axioms, postulates, or theorems.

Combining magical symbols with geometry without any type of postulate that you can prove makes the entire thing pointless. What is the relationship between that magical symbol and that angle? That is a 45-degree angle. What relationship does that angle have with that magical symbol that denotes a magical entity? I can’t look at most magicians’ magical seals without cringing. They never provide formulas or explain why they used those formulas. The lack of structure undermines the potential significance or effectiveness of the magical practice if the magical system is predicated on structure.

It irks me even more when the seal has arbitrary or random planetary or zodiac symbols that have nothing to do with the geometry and angles of what those symbols denote. If you are going to use geometry in your magic, then it should have logical rules and principles and a connection to the geometry. The complex magical seals are pretty, but they mean absolutely nothing. I would rather have their fictional narrative, i.e., a mythology.

Mathematics is a symbolic language. While it is a precise language, it is a language nonetheless, so it tells a story. When you are working on an intuitive level where precision is not needed, everyday language like this will suffice, where a visual representation can be basic glyphs. Storytelling is a more intuitive and engaging approach to understanding mystical concepts compared to the opaque and cryptic symbolism of complex magical seals. The effort in appearing to be legitimate without being legitimate irks me when a basic story and illustration will suffice.

  26. Regarding the phenomenology of purely psychic or magical influences, when you think about someone, your mind shapes itself into a representation of that person, and in order to maximize rapport, sympathy, resonance, or decrease the distance between you and that person, there has to be an accurate representation. Your mind becomes more and more like that of the person you are trying to influence as you approach that person on a psychic plane.

We can locate things in space and time by going to the space where it is at and the time where it is at and interacting with it. How do you find a non-physical, psychic entity, such as a concept? We locate these entities through symbols. Symbols point to concepts. In this case, your mind makes itself that symbol. The connection between the symbol and the concept is reinforced through redundancy. The more similar your mind is to that other person, the stronger the connection between your intent and that person. I can typically intuit whether a person is psychic or magical by the degree and clarity I can sense them. The clearer they are to me, the more similar we are.

So, when you seek to influence a person, you open yourself up to that same influence. Magic is not a one-way thing because it is predicated on your intention, and your intention is connected to you, and is your mind using itself as a symbol and mediator. Your mind is the gateway and the mediator for magic. Everything has an inverse or a negation. If you are seeking to influence someone else per your will, then the inverse is them influencing you via their will. In the same way that every integer has an additive inverse, there is an inverse with this and by creating that object, you create a possible inverse.

Psychokinesis and the Manipulation of Probability

I was born with psychokinetic abilities more archetypal of science fiction than occultism. Many people do not understand how psychokinesis works. Probability, in the sense of luck, doesn’t actually exist. In statistical mechanics, probability corresponds to the frequency of occurrence of an event, often represented as a histogram. This probabilistic frequency is related to processes like absorption and emission of heat. Temperature, in the context of statistical mechanics, is associated with scalar quantities such as speed (the magnitude of velocity) and momentum (the product of mass and velocity). These are the statistical properties that a spell or psychokinesis influences, rather than luck. They are influencing kinetic properties with their intention, i.e., psychokinesis.

    Chthonic Infernal Powers

Heat is disordered mechanical and rotational energy, so by manipulating disorder, entropy, and randomness, one is manipulating heat. As someone who exemplifies Chthonic, demonic, and draconic entities, I like to think of my psychokinesis and sorcerous abilities as a lower-dimensional manifestation of infernal powers. Influencing probabilities is a lower-dimensional manifestation of the iconic fire breath of a dragon or the fire powers of demons. It’s a lower-dimensional physical projection of the astral dragon’s fire breath. Astrologically, I am an Earth Dragon. This type of serpentine dragon is known as a Long, which is a wyrm similar to a Leviathan. Of course, this is a mythological narrative; however, it is a convenient abstraction and metaphor that encapsulates the connection among sorcery, psychokinesis, order, and statistical mechanical properties. As someone that is satanic, it also fits my spiritual beliefs, too. I am not an adept; instead, I am the serpent in the garden of Eden.

    The Blurring of Boundaries

When you manipulate a probability, you are effectively determining the outcome or direction of things. On a smaller scale, you are influencing the oscillation of matter to perturb it. When a spell changes the odds of something happening, it is effectively organizing disorder, mechanical, and rotational energy – that is, heat – in a way that serves the practitioner’s desired outcome by creating a coordination of energy and matter. This might appear rather mechanical, but it isn’t. There is a psychic component to it.

When I influence the movement of a candle flame or light a candle, I become that candle flame. My psychokinesis is an abstraction of clairvoyance and psychokinesis, which is why I have a hard time simply sensing the future with a precognitive application of clairvoyance. I explain that here: Influencing the Future, One Wave at a Time.

Through verification and feedback, I can tell there is a veridical connection between that gestalt and fire. So, my mind is accurately shaping itself into the representation of fire, so in a sense, there is an aspect of me that is fire. Whenever I want to influence a candle flame or light a candle, I evoke that gestalt. There is a connection between me and the candle such that there is a blurring between me and the candle. I become the candle and that part of me becomes the candle flame. When you influence something with magic or psychic abilities, that illusion of separation disappears.

Gestalts and Ideograms in Remote Viewing

My consciousness will sense a candle flame in the other room clairvoyantly and will encode that noetic knowledge as a gestalt, an ideogram, into my internal schema. I can recognize that I am psychically sensing fire because of how it’s stored in the schema of my consciousness. I employ a similar system of gestalts that you might find in Controlled Remote Viewing (CRV), although I’ve developed my own model and templates. The sigils and magical languages I create and use denote those gestalts and act as ideograms. Gestalts are used differently in Parapsychological paradigms than in general Psychology.

“The word “gestalt” is not a remote viewing term, even though that is the place you will hear it most. It is, in fact, a psychological term which means the basic conceptual quality or basic aspect of any one thing. For example, “dew”, “lake”, “ocean”, “sweat”, “rain”, “ice”, etc., all have the gestalt of “water”. If you were to add “gasoline”, “bleach”, and “oil” to that list, the basic gestalt would be “liquid”.

Remote viewing starts off with the viewer getting the basic gestalts of the site, and then taking each gestalt individually and describing its individual qualities. So, a session might begin with the viewing finding that the target has the basic gestalts of “land”, “water”, and “manmade”. The second step or stage in the remote viewing process is to first give an actual description of the “land” at the site, then the “water” aspect of it, and then describe the “manmade” aspect of the target. In this way, a picture of the target builds up in a pollution-free environment.

One way of understanding the word, “gestalt” is to say that it is the “—iness” of the target. That is, “the target has water-iness, land-iness, and manmade-iness to it.”
    Lyn Buchanan

    “Definitions:

Major Gestalt: The overall impression presented by all elements of the site taken for their composite interactive meaning. The one concept that more than all others would be the best description of the site.

Ideogram: The “I” component of the I/A/B sequence. The ideogram is the spontaneous graphic representation of the major gestalt, manifested by the motion of the viewer’s pen on paper, which motion is produced by the impingement of the signal line on the autonomic nervous system and the reflexive transmission of the resultant nervous energy to the muscles of the viewer’s hand and arm. The objectified ideogram has no “scale;” that is, the size of the ideogram relative to the paper seems to have no relevance to the actual size of any component at the site.

“A” Component: The “feeling/motion” component of the ideogram. The “feeling/motion” is essentially the impression of the physical consistency (hard, soft, solid, fluid, gaseous, etc.) and contour/shape/motion of the site. For example, the monitor has selected, unknown to the viewer, a mountain as the trainee’s site. At the iteration of the coordinate, the trainee produces an appropriate ideogram, and responds verbally, at the same time as he writes it: “Rising up, peak, down.” This is the “motion” sensation he experienced as his pen produced the ideogram. He then says “solid,” having experienced the site as being solid as opposed to fluid or airy. This is the “feeling” component of the Stage 1 process. There are at least five possible types of feelings: solidity, liquidity, energetic, airiness (that is, where there is more air space than anything else, such as some suspension bridges might manifest), and temperature. Other feeling descriptors are possible, but encountered only in rare circumstances and connected with unusual sites. These components and how they are expressed in structure will be discussed more fully below. Though in discussions of theory this aspect is usually address as “feeling/motion,” it will normally be the case in actual session work that the motion aspect is decoded first with the feeling portion coming second.”

CRV Stage 1–Coordinate (“Controlled”) Remote Viewing Manual

I do know of a few chaos magicians – one in particular – who have taken Remote Viewing courses. They use gestalts and ideograms as the foundation for sigils, which they then enhance using editing programs like Gimp. The more experienced members of chaos magical orders will incorporate geographic coordinates and RV gestalts into the image layers of Gimp for sigils intended for group workings directed at a particular place or institution. I have witnessed one of these bizarre workings on Discord.

Whatever you seek to create, you have to become to actualize that thing, so if you seek to create a negative, horrific future, you become horrific. You are what you cast.

  27. People are not as mystically, magically, or psychically disconnected as we think they are. Magic that you can interact with is not like a ‘set it and forget it’ thing. It stays associated with you per your potential to interact with it. I’m seeing many people who have the wrong idea about servitors…

Locality can be interchanged with causality in a lot of cases, so we can say entities are connected if they can cause a change in each other. For example, if I throw a ball at someone, there is a scalar of speed and a vector of velocity that carries the ball through the air and hits them in the head; thereby causing a change in their state. If I threw a ball at a person from my house, and they were on the other side of the world, the ball would hit the wall and not them. There is no connection because they are not local. Systems are connected on some level if they can cause a change.

The above example is ephemeral because there is no prolonged connection beyond those moments. Magic is more persistent because a person can interact with a spell they’ve cast or an entity they are interacting with per intent. If you create a spell, servitor, etc., and you can interact with the spell or the servitor, you’re still connected. If you can control a servitor, you are still connected; therefore, the servitor is a part of you. Since the servitor is connected to you via causal relationships, that servitor you created can exert an influence backward on you. What does that mean? That means if you set a servitor after someone and can control that servitor, there is a locality between that person, the servitor, and your mind, so a magician can get into your head or influence the servitor to influence you via that open channel. You can cut by cutting the connection to the servitor; however, that implies you can’t control the entity. It’s fully autonomous. If you cut off your hand, your hand is not a part of you; however, you can’t move that hand anymore. Your ability to exert a causal influence on something implies you are in that thing’s locality and that there exists a potential inverse where you can be pushed back on and influenced. Spells connect things, and servitors are persistent daemons. You are disconnected from a system, network, or entity if there is no potential causal relationship to imply a local connection.

We can think of the psychic plane as having systems of connected concepts and experiences. Personally, I am skeptical of the realism of astrology and astral planes, so I believe that any celestial metaphor or analogy should have some support. We can point to an area that is a cluster of hateful concepts and experiences and we can say that the influence of those clusters is the dominant force for that domain. We say that things are in a solar system based on something called a hill sphere.

The Hill sphere is a concept in celestial mechanics that defines a region around a celestial body (like a planet or a moon) within which its gravitational influence dominates over the gravitational influence of another body. We can simulate a psychic analogy via Graph Theory and force-drawing algorithms like Force Atlas. That will render something that looks like a semantic constellation. In this, there is an attractive force on connecting nodes after a random repulsive force is exerted on every node on the graph. The forces acting on each node are continuously recalculated based on their positions and the strengths of connections (edges) between them. This iterative process continues until the forces reach equilibrium, meaning that the nodes settle into stable positions where the forces balance out. With this, we can see a clustering of concepts, archetypes, patterns, experiences, etc via associativity and their correspondences. Within clusters formed by the Force Atlas algorithm, certain nodes may emerge as more central or influential than others. These central nodes often have higher degrees of connectivity within their respective clusters, meaning they are more strongly connected to other nodes in the cluster. Nodes with higher connectivity within a cluster are akin to bodies with larger hill spheres in celestial mechanics because they exert greater influence over the surrounding nodes within their cluster. So, there is a weak analogical connection between psychic bodies hill spheres in celestial bodies.

While we are physically in the same place, when people engage with psychic planes, a part of them is moving within those domains where there is an implicit influence. Mass is a property that resists acceleration, so we can think of a psychic analogy as what we will or will not do. If you are psychically being displaced as you move towards a domain that exerts a greater influence, you are accelerating towards that thing which implies there is an inverse relationship between the influence of your will and that body. You are paying for your magic through sacrificing bits of yourself, in other words, which includes your sanity.

  28. You know… after being involved in occultism since I was 10, weird has gotten… well, boring. All occultists seem to be the same, and many of the ones I knew in high school are still exactly like they were in high school. Weird is so normalized, it’s, well… normal. I’m bored to tears with occultism. Like, so fucking bored with it. If I see another faux magic cipher that feels like a cipher but is really someone who got high during a ritual and just sketched out their trip, magical sigils created through Austin Spare’s substitution technique inside a circle with Theban or the Malachim language around that circle or any other basic ass geometric shape on a page with bones and skeletons, I will fucking scream. My first formal grimoire that I kept in high school had scripts written in the Malachim alphabet. That was high school! The runes of Elder Futhark always felt dissonant and ominous to me, so I never messed with that. I only use systems that are resonant with me, which, at the moment, are systems I’ve created myself.

It’s like, “Oh, another deer skull mask. Oh, another basic ass monoalphabetic cipher that’s not even a polyalphabetic cipher just because it looks spooky.” By the way, any system of sigils that’s a monoalphabetic cipher is basically ASCII. The sigils these people create aren’t even comprehensive ideograms to capture the basic contours of the experience, so they are mystically useless, and they pretty much imitate the grapheme of the English alphabet.

These completely normal, mediocre people honestly believe they are edgy and weird. They’re boring. They are not innovating or transforming anything. They are just churning out things typical of that genre. They are living memes. I’m so fucking bored looking at occultists’ work nowadays.

  29. So, after witnessing many of my enemies’ lives falling apart, I assumed they were trying to cast spells on me. If you know, you know. I examined our house wards and discovered that my husband made a modification to give the protective measures a rather nasty retaliatory bite.

So, I went on a hunt and found what my husband did. My husband has no chill, so I feel sorry for those who got hit with what he put in there. It was a sympathetic and contagious magical measure that I taught him. You create an effigy of yourself with things like your hair and fingernail clippings so that it intercepts curses. Then you place it in a box with hemlock, nightshade, and items such as a consecrated and enchanted mirror. Yes, there was actual belladonna in the spell box.

It acts like a lightning rod for a curse, draws the curse away from you, and activates a counter-curse that draws on the sympathetic property of hemlock and nightshade. Sympathetic magic works via like interacts with and attracts like, so since curses, poison, and hemlock have like properties of causing harm, they interact via that association. The same goes for the mirror.

Contagious aspects of magic are similar to entanglement. The idea is that once things come in contact with each other, they are connected such that one can influence the other. With things that were a part of you that are separated, the ‘entanglement’ is so strong that, in some cases, it can act as a substitution for you; therefore, a curse that uses your image will be drawn to that image, i.e., effigy.

My husband seems to have attached paper talismans that evoke Saturn, indicating that he wanted the curse to disrupt their lives by placing never-ending problems in their path. He didn’t tell me, of course, because he knew I would object. If you folks are reading this, that shall teach you. While I won’t curse you, people in my life that love me might not be so forgiving.

  30. You know, I give mentally ill people a lot of grace; however, that grace ends when you are aware that what you are doing is immoral. Empirically, immoral behavior is associated with antisocial behavior and behavior where you benefit at someone else’s expense. Antisocial behavior is not introversion. Can I be antisocial? Yes, I can be. I am not a saint. I am often a devil; however, I make no excuse for it, and I try to isolate myself away from negative influences.

The issue I have with many DKMU members is they have effectively given up trying to improve as people. They have decided. I’m not going to name any names, but I saw a DKMU member on Bluesky try to rationalize their parasocial and antagonistic behavior by calling themselves a goblin and then naming it gleeful screeching. They were rationalizing their mentally ill behavior and doubling down instead of regulating themselves or asking for psychiatric intervention. I have seen this person try to form a parasocial relationship with a crow, so they are deeply ill. If you know, you know. She’s aware that what she is doing is wrong; however, she has decided to do the wrong thing, anyway, and she is rationalizing her bad behavior.

Karma is just a metaphysical abstraction of cause and effect, i.e., consequences. There are, and have been, consequences to her behavior that this person is feeling on a medical level; however, they still, of their own free will, choose to do the wrong, unhealthy things knowingly.

She, and a lot of members of DKMU, have given up living. They have given up progressing. They’ve decided to live in a miserable, nihilistic, antagonistic space. That is the last I will speak on this person because I find them to be very sad. It is deeply depressing watching them destroy themselves because they have given up living.

  31. Honestly, the attitude within occultism is maddening to me. There’s an acknowledgment that Jung, Crowley, Blavatsky, etc. are all horrible people. You don’t have to convince them that they are awful and racists. We all know. However, most occultists can’t be bothered to come up with anything better, so their response is to use broken systems that do not work and tell people to separate the art from the artists and to normalize the evil, immoral behavior of occult authors because, well, they like the status quo.

There’s always been this assumption with sigils and seals in occultism that they are allegories; astrology should be treated as a pattern that isn’t necessarily literal. If magic shifts probabilities, then that means that magic creates topological defects and breaks symmetries, which means that it has an empirical connection to crystallization. And when we are looking at ontological and mathematical models that strongly model crystallization and symmetry, we find tiling and tessellation. I’m experimenting with tessellation, symmetry, magic, and psychic abilities. Honestly, I am through with the culture and aesthetics of occultism, so I am not using anything that resembles occult sigils or even calling mnemonic symbols or any kind of symbol a sigil anymore. Occultism, as a whole, gives me the ick. Occult systems make me feel so dirty that I feel like I need a bath.

Liminal space is a buzzword that you hear a lot. A liminal space is something like a hallway or the threshold of a door. We can also think of liminal spaces as portals and topological defects, which is an accurate analogy for the symmetry-breaking that magic causes in physical systems. I am thinking of symbols that are more accurate of a topological defect, such as a phase transition. Because of meta-stability, liquid crystals are sensitive to psychic influence and exhibit topological defects via phase transition, so models and symbols based on liquid crystals are realistic for phase transitions that liminal spaces imply.

A physical example of a topological defect is liquid crystals. I like playing around with crystallization and psychic and magical acts because it provides an empirical case. Probabilities are not abstract. Whenever you influence probabilities, you are manipulating where something is going and how fast it is moving, or you are defining where it is. If you are dealing with a system, you are coordinating how fast things are, where they are going, and where they are at for multiple parts of that system. You are shifting statistical mechanical properties of a solution. The shape and structure of a crystal are tied to the probability of that crystal structure emerging, so shifting probabilities shifts the shape of the crystal that we expect to get, which we can experimentally test and measure. Boltzmann distribution, a fundamental concept in statistical mechanics, describes the probability of a molecule occupying a certain energy state. In the context of a crystal lattice, different molecular arrangements correspond to different energy states and when you shift probabilities, you shift where that favorable energy state is likely to be.

An exercise that I did a long, long time ago is that I constructed a class, to act as an archetype, and properties of that class were a data structure imported from an actual social network from Twitter that matched the parameters of the properties of that class. That was before Twitter became X. I would not dare use anything from that domain of the noetic sphere now. I used Gephi for this. I used the Force Atlas 2 layout in Gephi to simulate attraction and repulsion forces via a Barnes–Hut algorithm. The algorithm uses an adaptive cooling strategy similar to annealing. This gave me a network that was also a crystal. I then dissolved a solute into a solution and grew a crystal where my intent was to link to the psychic form of that pattern, project the simulated crystal onto the growing crystal, and measure the structure of the crystal. That exercise created a magical, symbolic construct that was not only realistic but also empirically valid. I am thinking about using tessellation, tiling, and symmetry to denote magical systems instead of employing anything that resembles occult symbols.

  33. I’ve been keeping tabs on the workings DKMU is doing. It seems like a lot of them are performing rituals for their godform, Trigag.

I am real; however, a person’s perception of me, the model of me they have created in their heads, and the symbolic representations of me they have created are extensions and an instance of me in their minds. The image of me is separate from me as a real person independent of their minds. I view invocations and evocations in the same way. Whether these entities have their own independent identity or not, I do not think magicians are working with. If a person were to have a dream with psychoanalytical significance and I was a character in that dream, it is not actually me. It is their mind using itself to represent me to represent something. It’s a symbolic masquerade.

I honestly don’t even think members of DKMU are working directly with their godforms. How can you tell when you are connected to a system? You can tell you are connected to a system when there is a potential for influence. People connected to a psychic network can empirically test if they are connected through the same type of experiments to test for telepathy. Say there is an egregore or godform that teaches and knows something you do not and cannot do. Say it can write music. An empirical test would be if, after the invocation, you suddenly tacitly and intuitively know how to do something.

Occam’s Razor says that the simplest explanation is that their mind is instantiating their own internal version of these entities, which is their mind using itself to represent a state of affairs. The evocation is actually an invocation where they are not working with a manifestation of a psychic network, i.e., an egregore. They are having a conversation with themselves masquerading as that egregore or godform. I don’t even think the members of DKMU are interacting with their system of egregores.

Their rituals seem to be a perverse parody of ceremonial magic. I think all of it is contrived anyway, so I am not complaining about the lack of orthodoxy. The lack of originality that makes this medocire. The sigils and the seals look and feel like what you see with ceremonial magic, though; it is completely contrived. The form is ripped off, and it is completely lacking in originality.

  34. I am so tired of this shit… Look, the world is on fire, and things are just going to get worse from here. I am tired of occultists dealing with this by creating the same type of grandiose narrative where they are part of some mystical order tasked with using magical powers to stop a dark conspiracy. Apparently, every occultist on social media is Batman, The Scarlet Witch, and John Constantine.

Yes, fascism and authoritarianism are very real threats, and there are fascist esoteric orders out there. However, they are not setting up a telepathic network or using dark, eldritch reality-warping powers. They are using regular old, mundane, typical political corruption – the arcane magic of Machiavellianism. You fight that with the illumination of science and reason. Not more superstition and propaganda.

I’m not saying that we are helpless in the face of fascism, but forming parasocial relationships with random people online and LARPing into the astral world on some weird campaign or doing magical rituals alone in your bedroom won’t help anything. It is a coping mechanism. If you want to help people because it is the right thing to do and you just don’t want to feel helpless, find ways of being of service in your community. Honestly, I think we are past discourse. I think some real physical violence towards fascists is in order and not arguments online. LARPing as a witch casting curses won’t cut it. It is merely a way to avoid feeling helpless and managing existential dread, and it helps no one. I mean showing up with metal bats. There is a difference between altruism and coping.

Every magician on social media apparently has gods on speed dial; though, they are just as subject to the bullshit of everyday life as the mundane person is. Every magician on the Internet apparently has reality-warping powers on the Internet, though we all live in one of the worst-shared realities possible. I am over it.

  35. I am so fucking tired of seeing sigils and seals that all look the fucking same. Austin Spare’s technique for turning a statement of your intention into a sigil/image and the alphabet of desire is fucking mediocre as hell. It is intended to create something that looks and feels like something from ceremonial magic. Give me something different, innovative, and inspiring, not a fucking another insipid sigil that looks like a billion other seals in a grimoire.

  36. A reason why I decided to have a presence like this on the Fediverse, through a WordPress blog, is that I don’t like arbitrary community rules or guidelines. They are superfluous, and they exist merely to influence and control people through compliance. A lot of community guidelines and rules are morally negligible.

While current events put me in a nihilistic and cynical mood, evidence that I have about the teleological nature of psychic phenomena and magic are empirical cases against nihilism. Psychic phenomena order entropic and disordered states such that events are drawn to a point, i.e., an attractor, which causes what many magicians call synchronicity. Events that should be disordered and not related suddenly become ordered and correlated to take on the form of a message.

Magical and psychic forces order events, which insert information, contradicting the idea that nothing has meaning, since magic inserts information and manipulates histories. Succumbing to nihilism would be to embrace a delusion, considering the evidence I have.

A way to think about it is that when someone sees the future, there is a correlation between them and that future moment, where the correlation is not a translation in space-time. There is a discontinuity, so there is a singularity. There is a hole and an asymptote that, as you approach that hole, you approach infinity. The correlation between that future moment and its relative to the past, that is, the person getting a vision of the future, causes a retrocausal influence.

Say we were to record if someone throws a rock through a glass window and the window shatters. If you were to rewind that video, it would appear as if the shattered glass flew into the place with the pieces arranging so that they fit where they meet the rock at exactly the moment the shards flew back together. We intuitively know that time is moving backward in that video because we see coordination and symmetry. That is analogous to what happens with precognition, so evidence for precognition is empirical cases against nihilism.

Which is why nihilistic chaos magicians confuse the hell out of me, because teleology is a corollary of intentionality and a subjective characteristic of experience. When they reject objective reality, they say it emerges from consensus in a subjective space. That implies a teleological nature of belief, intentionality, and expectation as part of meaningful subjective experiences. The collective meaning people put into something constraints probabilities and future realities.

Notice that I said arbitrary and superfluous rules. I am not advocating immorality or amorality. What do I mean by morally negligible? Objective variables correlated with mortality are altruism and prosocial behavior, so the inverse is immoral antisocial behavior. We can summarize it as immoral behavior is behavior where a person gains at another’s expense.

Capitalism is literally built on benefiting from someone else’s expense, so you can say that if it is capitalistic, it is probably immoral. My husband constantly hears me rant to people regarding enshittification and monetization by saying that if it is built on capitalism, it is probably evil, and you are probably dealing with a bad person. Ironically, this includes many people involved in occulture and leftist anarchistic forms of occultism. Not only are they practicing in an immoral system, but they are also selling services and goods that do not work, so they are also defrauding people. Selling your art to people is not fraud. Selling mediocre art by telling people it has magical powers, can give them spiritual guidance, or can tell them the future when it cannot is what makes it fraudulent.

Here is the thing about rules and laws. They are normative. They are prescriptive instead of being positivistic. They are not about what something is; rather, they are about how things ought to be. In the context of people, they outline how people should behave, so normative expressions, i.e., rules that outline a culture and community’s norms, are prescriptive.

And prescriptive expressions are a tacit commitment to the type of future that the culture and community want to create. You put in place rules with punitive measures, such as shame, banning, suppression, censorship, etc., in order to create a future where people do not do those things. There are certain things we should aim to try to exterminate from the future, such as misogyny, fascism, Nazis, homophobia, transphobia, etc.; however, losing your shit because people do not put alt tags or CW on pictures or nudity is a bit much, as well as removing dissenting things.

While I am quick to call out people who present unsolicited arguments on other people’s replies, when there is an open invitation to a discussion and a person gives a dissenting view, that does not warrant removing or banning them. Honestly, I am used to this type of behavior. Occult cultures and communities are notorious for doing this. In my case, constraining myself to occult cultures and communities and internalizing and adhering to their cultural norms would have held me back, so I’ve always chosen to exist on the margins as a solitary practitioner.

  37. Scrolling through the magick hashtag on here, I see a lot of people asking others to charge a sigil. Firstly, my issue is: what does that even mean? In an abstract sense, a charge is when you pass on a finitely signed measure, in both directions. For example, if I have two apples and someone hands me two more, I can count and see I have four apples. Apples are concrete things that I can see. What is the thing that we are passing, where is it going, and how are we measuring that this thing has changed such that it is charged? Here is the thing: Charge is a measurable property. Charge is useless without context, like the word energy. Energy is just a property of something that can cause a change. The term is useless without a reference frame.

Yes, I understand how magic works. The intuitive idea is that they are charging it with intent via their attention. But, let’s consider an experiment. Suppose I have a liquid, and I want people to charge this liquid with intention. The easiest things to measure would be the activity level of the liquid. Because quantum objects, like electrons, are sensitive to psychic or magical forces, something like ions in a liquid would highly sensitive to magic; therefore, we can measure activity to see if there is a correlation. There is an extinction of psychic skill if the feedback is unclear. If you are directing your intention and attention at something for a psychic or magical effect, and there is no feedback or the feedback is unclear, such that you attribute confirmation bias or any other bias to something psychic or magical, you start to harm your ability. Posting sigils on social media and asking people to use them for a group working is a great way to create a culture and spread memetic influence; however, without a way of measuring whether a ‘charge’ is really happening, you just harm everyone’s ability.”

Currently, Dean Radin is running an experiment with the double-slit experiment, sigils, a Buddha figure, and equipment he is sending out to magicians relative to things like Remote Viewing. The equipment is highly sensitive and filled with sensors, so, again, he can measure things. The person that sparked this conversation is involved with the Illuminati of Thanateros, so they should know better. It drives me just as insane with tarot card readers that do no null hypothesis significance testing at all. If your hypothesis within your theory is that the cards are encoding a message, then that would mean the cards are not random, and joint probabilities and correlations exist, allowing us to perform statistical hypothesis testing. I think people have gotten so into the habit of conning people that they con themselves.
