Some Irish folklore this St Patrick’s Day: the Sídhe, the Aos sí, the fair folk, the good people, or the people of the shee from Irish folklore, who live underground. You may know the banshee, or Bean sídhe or woman of the sídhe. In fact the very word Sídhe is the term for earthen mounds like the one in my #linocut and the Aos sí are “the people of mounds.” The Sidhe evolved from a mythological people known as 🧵

#WordWeavers 2025.12.22 — If the inciting incident never happened, what would happen to your MC?
I actually thought a lot about this as I was writing the second chapter.
Without Martin of the Maledictions trying to ascend to godhood, Medb would have carried on being a steward of her people until the human city-states made themselves a problem again. The Rhai'r-tír, Elves, Sidhe Courts, and even the Jötun signed "The Pact of Dissolution" after the last war the humans started with the Fae. Basically if the humans started another large scale war, whether or not it was with one of the four signatories, all the human city-states would be destroyed and an order of wardens set up to monitor that the humans don't organize into anything larger than a village.

Looking out the front window and spotted a constellation of #dandelion puffs caught by the wind and floating together around the corner headed to points unknown and my first thought was “Those are mighty #Sidhe #fae warriors headed to battle…” and then chuckled “In a world where the gods are cruel about scale…” then I smiled. #today

Last year or the year before I read a series of books by an Irish writer about schools and people sucked into the world of the Sidhe - can't find them for the life of me! What were they? @bookstodon #sidhe #otherworld
