While working on this piece, I tried refining a new style that was inspired by carving out linotype. Rather than using consistent lines, I tried to give the lines a more etched, or “hand cut”, look.

I made some small changes to this #SidewalkFriends sketch from a few years ago.

A dried patch of something (paint?) I spotted on a cold winter morning in #SanFrancisco turns into #MariLwyd. The Mari Lwyd is a wassail-singing folk character from South Wales traditions. It goes door to door challenging occupants to a battle of wits. If victorious, the Mari Lwyd wins food and ale, then grants the household good luck for the following year.
