Interesting article from the #Black newspaper in #Chicago about working while Black and the lack of #SickLeave "an economic analysis — coupled with the demographics of states that haven’t expanded sick leave to hourly workers — found that swaths of Black workers have to come to work even if they are sick."

@bicmay The benchmark for sickleave in Australia is two weeks per annum. Many places allow you to roll over unused sickleave into the following year. Usually, there is an allowance for taking one or two days sickleave without medical certificate. None of that impacts on other health related leave such as Maternity or Paternity leave. That was in force back in the 1970s.

We do need new vaccines, and a hell of a lot more.
We need paid #SickLeave for all workers, so people don't need to go to work sick. We need federal minimum #ventilation standards to reduce transmission indoors. We need a mandatory, federalized reporting system so we know with precision where the #epidemic is and where it's spreading. We need a federalized system to stockpile the equipment that health care workers need when caring for infectious patients.
