Great open discussion with a nice group of ≈20 bioinformaticians on making our research more sustainable. Consensus that we should make comptutations and storage more efficient, increased awareness of the impact of plane travel, and interesting suggestions to encourage (rather than enforce for now) better behaviors. @SIB #SIBdays24 #sustainability #bioinformatics

Excellent talk by Janet Thornton showing us how interesting enzymes are, and how much bioinformatics can teach us about their mechanisms and evolution, and how we can use these insights to design new enzymes @SIB #bioinformatics #SIBdays24

There weren't many people at the #SIBdays24 #sustainability workshop yesterday, but the discussions were very interesting. I'm optimistic that this can be the start of movement of taking sustainability into account in one of the largest #bioinformatics institutes @SIB. The effort will continue today with a shorter open discussion on the same topic during the main conference, that hopefully more people will attend.
