Some of the games I played in April. A return to an old favourite in Android Netrunner, and some plays due to various award wins or recommendation lists: not a bad month! Elfenland was surprisingly good for its age, and I want to play The Quest for El Dorado again. What game from this month do y’all want to play again?

Very much here for #QuintinSmith's (of #ShutUpAndSitDown and #PeopleMakeGames) new #TTRPG series on youtube, #QuinnsQuest.
It's not gonna do my bank account any favours though, cause now I NEED the book from the first review, #TheWildsea...it looks amazing!

I really enjoyed Tom Brewster's take on John Company, a board game knowingly steeped in the depravity of historical colonialism, and one that demands your complicity in the worst excesses of the time. But is that acceptable? And can that be "fun"? Is it even supposed to be?
Long, but well worth the time.

I do not play a lot of #boardgames because I am a massive #introvert with the tiniest social battery you'll ever see, but I like my #parasocial relationship with the Shut Up & Sit Down team reviewing games I'll never play.
Their newest addition Emily is a blast!
Such great content they make over there on the #youtube

#Boardgaming friends! The SU&SD guys are looking for some help for #SpielEssen
#Boardgames #boardgame #SUSD #ShutUpAndSitDown
Boosts would help I'm guessing!

Been watching way too many Watch it Played and SU&SD videos lately—really need to set aside time to play (and maybe design) some board/card/tabletop games. 😅

@neildixon @emmahunneyball The biggest miss I ever had from a #ShutUpAndSitDown review was the game #LadiesAndGentleman.
It didn't really feel like a #boardgame to me. It felt more like a #rpgOnRails. That might've been okay had I wanted to role play polite society, but the review didn't make this clear at all. I learned to be weary

@emmahunneyball Quite specific to #gamedesign and #boardgamedesign, my favorite podcast for #boardgames is #TheGameDesignRoundtable. This podcast has been running since 2015 or so. A huge amount of insight there. Another that I like is #Ludology.
I love the old #ShutUpAndSitDown with Paul. I felt like he helped balance things out. I know tons of people love them still though and I'd recommend giving it a go.

@kennon Ohh, I do recall mention of the Jenga tower on the #ShutUpAndSitDown podcast and how it ratcheted up tension.
I think back to Garfields mechanicism of the blood pool in Jyhad (Vampire: The Eternal Struggle).
Would you explain your Tension Pool?

I've never really been inclined to want to play games with themes based on historical wars, but this review kind of makes me wanna give #UndauntedStalingrad a try.
I know it would definitely be right up my husbands alley.

@inkslinger credit to the guys on Shut Up & Sit Down for this one. https://youtu.be/lT_uvWyUQrA #ShutUpAndSitDown #boardgames
