Shutter could perhaps become what Solo was meant to be, a simple, single user photo sharing platform that is as easy to install as WordPress.
But first, I will focus on improving Pixelfed (federation, webUI + mobile apps) and make :pixelfed: more stable and solid!
This is going to be a wild summer 😎

To improve Pixelfed federation, I've been building a reusable Laravel Package (laravel-activitypub).
Before I integrate it into Pixelfed, I need to test it and catch production bugs, so I created a single user photo sharing app as a demo
It's called Shutter. You can only upload one photo at a time, no comments, likes or shares, it's just a demo app
That being said, I love the simple design, and it may influence the next Pixelfed webUI redesign 🤔
I will be testing it soon!

Edna was the one to break him out of his head space. "Gungan? Let's get you fed, and then we can talk. Come along."
They weren't going to the main farm house, but to an additional house that was almost as big. The large house didn't look like it was actually lived in. All the window shutters were closed, and there was no visible trail to its door.

CW: "Shutter" (wss366 short fiction)
"Smile!"
The word came out less a command than a request, like a bed-bound child asking to feel the sun on her face. I pressed the button on my camera and heard the mechanical click of the #shutter. For a flickering moment, the world turned white.
Molly, my partner, sat balled up in the fetal position on our black faux-leather couch, her fingers shielding her deep brown eyes.
"Fuck! Okay, okay, enough already!" she exclaimed, her voice half-muffled by the web-like flesh and bone of her hands. "Why do you want to get pictures of me anyway? It's not like I'm going anywhere, what with... well."
She raised her arms in a wordless gesture that hinted at something unspoken yet obvious to us both.
"They're not for me," I replied, lowering the camera. "They're for whoever comes after us. I want them to know that we were here, you know? That we were..." I paused, scrabbling against the walls of my skull for the word.
"...real?" Molly said, the word lingering in the air like a vapor.
"Yeah," I said, plopping myself down beside her on the couch. The old thing groaned in protest, as though annoyed at the indignity of being forced to shoulder the weight of a second body. "Real. And that we loved each other."
Molly turned to face me and let out a soft sigh. "What does it even mean to be real, anyway? Like..."
She paused and glanced down at her lap, then back up again, softly biting her lip.
I decided to break the silence. "I really don't know, Mol," I said, draping my arm across the back of the couch behind her head. "But maybe this will make us a bit more so."
"I don't-"
A muffled bang, like someone had set off dynamite across the street, shook the walls of the apartment. Outside, a din of voices grew, punctuated by shouts. To my ears, it sounded as though hell itself had overflowed from the sewers.
"Quick," I said, retracting my arm and reaching again for my camera. "I don't know when they'll get here. We may not have much time."
I turned back to Molly, but her attention had shifted to the front door. I followed her gaze. In that moment, that bone-hued pane of wood seemed so thin, the deadbolt securing it so pathetic a protective measure. It was too fragile. Everything was too fragile.
"Babe," Molly said, her voice quivering. "I'm scared."
"I know," I replied. "Me too." It was all I could say in the moment. I wanted so badly to protect her, but I was like the door, like the walls and ceiling, like every measure that we so naively believed would shield us. It was all tissue paper, ready to be crumpled. And so was I.
I raised the camera again. "One more," I said, steadying my voice as much as I could. "Just one more. So that they know."
"Smile..."

Green Gable
#Wss366 #Mastoprompt #WordWeavers 21. How much detail? Part 4.
The tall gabled house stood on a hill with cottonwoods sheltering it from the dry wind. That was my first impression as the buggy drove toward it. We were traveling just fast enough for the red dust kicked up by the wheels to drift behind us in a lingering plume.
The weathered cowhand driving spat tobacco and muttered, “Durned if I know why they put’er there.”
As we drove up, the chickens, lazily scratching in the yard, scattered. An old rusty hound peered at us from under the porch, then went back to sleep.
The house was as sleepy as the hound and the slowly drifting cottonwood fluff. Peeling white paint revealed gray wood, as soft as a dove. A #green #shutter in the high gable caught my eye—half-open, gazing at the newcomer.
This was my new home. I wondered if it would be better than McMyrt’s Orphanage.
Note: The house is the character.

The #heron flew off but I saw that it landed on the #nest it had been building.
With phone in hand I walked over the rough causeway to get beneath the nest. I must have started the #camera running by #mistake. As I reached the nest I raised the camera to it and pressed the #shutter button.
Once back at the house I realised the #mistake I'd made. Here's the last three seconds of the #video I captured.

Six images (6x12) per roll of 120 film! Not sure how many I’ll get w a roll of 35mm 36 exposures (w sprockets!); so excited. Yes it’s $109 w NYC tax but IT COMES WITH THE 35MM MASK! B&H website doesn’t say this. Usually that’s another $18-$23. It doesn’t come w solid back but I have gaffers tape. Usually w 120 film, shooting 6x6 square, you’d get 12 exposures.
