I'm going out to meet the sound engineers working with #sleeptoken up at Allstate arena in #Rosemont #Illinois this weekend. They are a #heavymetal band using the #Shure #axient #digital #psm system that I have spent most of my days working on for the last few years. It's good to have a chance to go out and talk to a customer after a long time stuck in the lab.

The trip is being coordinated via #whatsapp which meant I have installed a Meta app on my phone for the first time in 10 or so years.

Nach über 10 Jahren erfolgreichen Einsatzes brauchte das #Pedalboard mal ein Upgrade. Mehr Power, Delay mit bpm genauen Presets und Gitarrenfunk.

Leider hörte das #Shure Pedal während des Umbaus auf zu funktionieren. Kommt wohl vom harten „seit halbem Jahr auf Einsatz warten“ im Regal.

We needed a shield and I decided we could use #kicad and some brass sheet stock from #mcmaster to build a custom shield. In the meantime picked up #Shure #SM58 (the classic one) and honestly I could keep it as my main mic.

It requires higher gain, so the noise floor is high but still very good results for the money.

#Earthworks #Ethos is almost 4x the money and definitely not that multiple in quality.

If I wanted to go for best value, another classic #BETA87A would be my choice.

SM58 is an amazing artifact obviously and also built like a tank but Ethos looks and feels like piece of art.
