So you meet a new person and profile online and what seems to be a great "build culture / empower people / teach people / etc".

But when you reach out to them their 2nd reply really stinks - Their attitude has taken what you say and made it into something else. From just the 2nd reply...

I admit a lot of things (like writing longer than average or other comparisons to others), but why people make things into even more of a mess or not work it out with you?

So how do we solve that mess (from previous history also) and even with people who say in their bio :decolonizing our methods and creating empowering, healing, and regenerative learning communities." to not do the opposite and create frustration and accusation.

The very people who do this for a living or have similar intentions just block people like that! It's so unskilled. If you write me something long I'm not going to flip out like this about it... and I hope any 'culture' in the future isn't going to do similar.

It seems more than a "hello" or long text, and suddenly they turn into someone else or get themselves in a twist and even label you (which is insulting!)...

So here's the reply and I'll show more of how the person got to this point (without my intending too and being sincere all the time)

2nd reply I get:

So...on top of not working through things a bit after my long message, someone accuses you of lots of extra stuff.. and it's like WOW... #shrug etc. Also a bit of anger or frustration increases rather than anything towards positive - To be straight even if I or another person writes you an essay - unless they really are clearly swearing and insulting then I think people should go the 'extra mile' beyond 2 messages 'deep' (LOL). Work through it instead of insult!

It's like people will do / say anything to avoid finding out more. No surely this can't be a real long message - SPAM SPAM SPAM - Like writing off a car when only a part of it seems damages though the narrow lens of text message and even that might not be true when you really talk to them.

So the next time someone writes something long. Don't be a ___.

The example here is a supposed to be a teacher. So makes it twice as bad.

A better reply is asking nicely and that without saying these softer things like "Hey I didn't understand this part..." or "Why did you write me so much, is this a joke" ... the unfortunately you reach DEAD ENDS IN CULTURE really fast (that's why I'm using #ModernPeople or #ModernCulture hashtag because ALL culture is missing into a shittier kind which THIS teacher was supposed to be fixing / helping.

No it's not a joke or time wasting...

❓ So why do people *make communication* a time-waster by their own poorly labelling of it... Is it shirking responsibility or avoiding 'potential' trouble by closing out these types of students even if they are clever in other ways? ❓

It's like all or nothing in what I think CULTURE needs time AND is worth it... just don't throw it away...!!! It's like throwing people and planet by guessing wrong... "nah disconnect / throw it away".

Well I'm sorry that is not culture or building anything - in fact that is being anti-culture.

Even people fitting in paid professional "job" boxes are poorly design by those that care less about culture and more about money. Whatever..

So you have made a mistake in the the length or detail of my post for something else and re-labelled it more than the excited "oh wow" email it was to try bring as much to the table... only for you to ignore it.

It's *exactly what is missing in a lot of culture and despite that you fell into the same mistake.

I understand it's a lot of writing... but that is the way in culture else you get #monocrop and less skilled people doing exactly what you did. CUT IT ALL!

As part of the culture (that you are demonstrating you want to repair) you're thinking something else more than an excited message to work through.
And as a half-worthy teacher myself even I know *you have to work around others* at the beginning! And then build our trust to whatever level (it's never there to start with or goes from strangers to something a bit better if not friends with yourself). THAT'S LIFE.

And yes THIS totally happens sometimes between people - usually with similar people or just text versions of us - and we have to snap out of that. You should know this / expect it as a teacher!

@multilingualfutures Hi your description of what you do is interesting. I'm not into websites much - I find them a block using colonial style gateways "in order to get ahead" (not just saying that because it's in your bio but really I feel like websites *block* people and make it too formal... but anyway not knowing that let it be and maybe has to for the monetary sides and automation of the flow etc...

So I'm wonder what you can offer people as part of those kind of things existing, but not via website?

@freeschool I will try to post lots of things here that are useful for language teachers and revitalizers, as I have been on my other platforms, and there is a ton of stuff on my youtube. I have a complete course there for free, the entire framework that I I have developed with communities is available for free, and back to the website, there are libraries of resources and frequent workshops there for free also.

I do try to decide thoughtfully how much can be public and how much can be free, because financially there are huge challenges to be managed, but also, it's very important in this work that things be done through relationship and that communities be supported in adapting the resources to their own contexts. Part of the decolonization process is removing the positivist approach to education where appropriate. This is stuff we are constantly exploring and revolving with.
