🍫 Die dünneren Milka-Tafeln des Herstellers Mondelez verstoßen gegen das Wettbewerbsrecht. Das hat das Landgericht Bremen entschieden. Hersteller Mondelez hatte sie von 100 auf 90 Gramm reduziert, bei gleicher Verpackung.

Have been thinking for some time that the proliferation of #aislop has something in common with the #debasement of the currency that was practiced in old times when coins contained silver or gold.
The objective of the "coiner" was to get the face value from others, but give them something intrinsically less worth.
Reminds also of #shrinkflation, reducing the size of products just enough to pretend it's the same, and thus keeping same price.
In any case it's poisonous for social contracts.

“I hate how grocery shopping has become an exhausting exercise in NOT get ripped off” - a headline from r/anticonsumption - What with #inflation and #Shrinkflation the #affordability crisis is only getting worse; while the industry is making record profits, except for #farmers - who are suffering even though subsidized. From my POV, most if not all consumer products producers have turned predatory over the last decade or so. And that’s including the packaged food, dairy and produce industries. This has to be final-stage #capitalism - when unrestrained and unregulated industry giants are preying on the consumers who fund their enterprises. There is a solution, an effective resistance to this trend…it is called #DemandDestruction - that is when fed-up consumers simply refuse to spend, resist corporate exploitation, and vote with their wallets. It’s hard, and takes planning & organization, but it IS doable. To fight back, avoid Amazon & big box stores. Buy from farmer’s markets, support local biz & vote blue.

I just had a Double Stuf Oreo for the first time in a year and I'm sad to report that they are a victim of shrinkflation. The amount of "stuf" on these is the same as the regular Oreos we had as children.

The shrinkflation going on with chocolate oranges is an absolute insult. I was already annoyed with the reduction from about 10 years ago, and the first one I’ve had in ages is even smaller again! Looks like someone’s been at it with a melon baller.
This isn’t a segment, it’s a sliver.

While the oil barons profit from the surge in prices, the rest of us will suffer. But in more ways that many suspect. It is more than just raising #gas prices, much more. Natural gas, 40% of the world’s #fertilizer and industrial chemicals are all shipped through the now closed Strait of Hormuz. That’s not all. Rising fuel #prices and supply chain disruptions will inevitably raise the #inflation rate - which stopped going down some weeks ago. Now, it will go up - as goods across the spectrum increase in price. As if we don’t pay enough now to live‼️ This war costs hundreds of millions a day to conduct, and we’re already paying for that from our tax dollars. Add to that the burden of raising inflation, including the ‘hidden’ costs of #Shrinkflation, and consumer suffering not only continues, it gets worse. And keep your eyes on employment numbers, as #AI is predicted to accelerate the loss of living wage, white-collar jobs. Like the 4k jobs just lost to AI at Jack Dorsey’s BLOCK. #War is bad #economics
