After the Sacramento Gold Miners joined the Canadian Football League in 1993 and despite some scepticism and opposition, the league sought to grow its footprint in the United States with additional teams in 1994 and 1995. Williams played 16 games for the #ShreveportPirates over the 2 years they existed in #CFL's American expansion (94-5). Returned to the CFL in 2000 for 6 games with Edmonton.
In between he stopped off with #WLAF/#NFLE and the #Arena Football League before landing in the #NFL, playing for both the Vikings and Eagles. Career recorded 27 sacks & 114 tackles, earning CFL East All-Star honors in 1994.

Freeman joined the Pirates in 1995 after spending previous season with the #BCLions - who obtained him in a 1993 trade with the #SacramentoGoldMiners, where he began his CFL career. Caught 15 passes for 165 yards and 2 TDs in a limited role for BC. Strong start in 1993, catching 48 passes for 736 yards and 3 TDs with Sacramento. He also returned 52 punts for 405 yards and a TD.
