I avoid driving into The City as much as possible now but I drove into The City today to buy some things in #Chinatown & to have dinner (my treat) with my sister at #Chapeau on Clement.
Traffic getting into & driving thru The City was atrocious. I used all off the tricks I know to zig zag around bottlenecks & traffic but it was still a PITA. 🤬
Double parkers abound as do driverless #Wayno cars that run red lights 🤦♂️
Currently sitting in #PloughAndStars next to Chapeau drinking an #IPA & listening to a group play Irish jig music. 😚
I was born & raised in SF & this reminds me why I have always ❤️'d The City but it's WAY too much trouble & far too expensive to live here anymore. 🤷🏻♂️

Let's talk about "should".
It shouldn't have been that way. I shouldn't have had to go through all that pain. They shouldn't have done that to me.
You know the "should's" because you probably have a few yourself. That's an argument with it. It puts you on defense. What are you defending yourself against?
There's some quirky logic happening in this thinking. Let's play this out.
You're defending yourself against things that have already happened. Presumably it's because of a hidden fear of them happening again. You "should" yourself into believing that they shouldn't have happened to start with, but then you defend yourself against the possibility that they may happen again.
You keep yourself in pain by arguing with what you think should have happened and then you defend yourself against the exact same thing. You create your own problem and then you render yourself unable to solve it because you refuse to use the tools you have.
You "should" yourself into being a victim of your own thinking.

Let's talk about "should".
It shouldn't have been that way. I shouldn't have had to go through all that pain. They shouldn't have done that to me.
You know the "should's" because you probably have a few yourself. That's an argument with it. It puts you on defense. What are you defending yourself against?

While this sucks generally, it appears on the surface that this could have been avoided by simply installing AV updates? That's #Security101. Especially after they were already attacked. #ShouldHaveKnownBetter.
Not too comfortable with a 7-year jail sentence, but without knowing their local laws around this topic I can't really speak to that in depth.
It is another hard example of why regular #Patching and #SystemUpdates are essential - at work and especially at home. Even if they are manually applied! It's not just good #CyberHygiene, in many instances it is a regulatory or #LegalRequirement.

I did something pretty dumb last night but learned some valuable lessons.
It was late and I had noticed that on my Windows 11 home laptop, the Core Isolation - Memory Integrity was disabled. There was a yellow warning around it so I looked it up (briefly) and saw it is usually enabled by default.
I turned it on, restarted my laptop and BSOD. WTF.
-Restarted in Safe Mode - couldn't access Windows Security/Core Isolation.
-Tried messing with the command line to find setting and failed
-regedit because I saw that I could possibly disable in DeviceGuard...but that wasn't on my profile somehow? Failed
-Restored from backup (luckily there was a back up recently, so no lost data) and success.Lessons learned:
-Don't mess around with settings when you're sleepy. It did keep me up late however 😂
-Do proper research on settings and not just Wild Wild West it. I have an AMD Ryzen processor and that setting is disabled because AMD and Memory Integrity don't play well.
-Revisit my backup frequency settings; saved me this time
-Don't do dumb things? -
