Over the coming weeks, I will do and in depth comparison of #craftcommerce 4/5 and #shopware6 (community/evolve/rise) and see what the strengths and weaknesses are for a German/European small to midsized merchant.
Many projects I worked on have highly customizable products that could produce up to 20 millions variations per product.
To mitigate that problem, I always used product configurators. Therefore my first experiment will be a #sprig powered tool in #craftcms 5.

This January I lost a midsized #shopware6 project, due to some last minute change in the client company. It would have kept me occupied for at least theee months.
So what to do with all the free time? I think, I will relearn #craftcms once version 5 comes out. After 3 years in the trenches of building Craft CMS sites, it is time to take a step back and look at the projects and community again and learn of all new things missed or could not implement so far.
Especially Commerce 5 excites me! -
Having the new machine makes working with in PHP even more fun.
Here is my list of projects I will work with the most in 2024.
- #CraftCMS
- #Laravel / #FilamentPHP
- #KirbyCMS
- #StatamicThere are some legacy projects I maintain so the list is a bit longer.
I am looking for a capable ecommerce software, after #Shopware became too expensive for my clients.
I want to have a closer look at #CraftCommerce and hope that version 5 will be ready for (my) prime time.

@mandrasch thank you for the derails Matthias. I am working a lot with #craftcms, #laravel, #shopware6 and some old #drupal7 projects. I guess that should more than fine. 🤓

You are puzzled, why the cli command dal:refresh:index in #shopware6 doesn't work as expected? I'm happy to explain it to you!

If your search on #Shopware6 doesn't work on the dashboard, it might be due to a broken index - Learn how to find the culprit. And on the linked post (from yesterday) I explain how you can "fix" it easily without code.

If you are into #shopware, #shopware6 and/or #ecommerce follow @winkelwagen, it’s my company and all our blogposts are pushed there. I guarantee a VERY low advertising and marketing ratio 🙃

It seems #MariaDB and #MySQL have entirely diverted into two separate products.
While #Shopware6 lists MariaDB and MySQL in their requirements, their recommendation is MySQL8 - which would be okay, you can have a favorite child.
On the other hand, developers now use functions that are exclusive to MySQL8 - completely disregarding the existence of MariaDB and thus breaking Shopware compatibility with MariaDB itself.
