I know Múm isn't a shoegaze band. But in my dreams they could be. Much in the way that bands like Pavement, Len, and Yo La Tengo, for example weren't shoegaze bands, but when they made shoegaze-like music it was better than most of the actual shoegaze bands.

There are more traditional Christmas songs done in a shoegaze style, but I haven’t felt much like listening to Christmas songs this year. Medicine’s “Christmas Song” is a delightfully glacial, noisy tune that’s seasonal enough without being too saccharine.

Pale Saints - In Ribbons
Pale Saints was slotted in the "shoegaze" set - probably because it was guitar driven with relatively low-mixed vocals. But it's more Slowdive than My Bloody Valentine.
In Ribbons is when they added Meriel Barham (from early Lush)...and not long before they broke up.
It's been 30 years since this came out, which is a bit hard to believe... new remaster sounds good, well pressed - happy to have a nice copy.

WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT SPHERE??? I was doing some digging about COLLAPSE, one of my favorite Japanese shoegaze bands, and found out that their vocalist is also in Sphere. ‘A Fusion Of Two Hemispheres’ is a gorgeous album, and I’m obsessed with the wistful, resonant chorus of “only time will tell…”. Someone get me to a fainting couch, ASAP.

Parannoul - After The Magic
The anonymous, Seoul-based artist who is Parannoul has really hit this one out of the park. It's a mix of dream pop, shoegaze, synth, etc - layers and layers of (self-played?) instrumentation with vocal melodies mixed low...except when they're not. :-)
It's a lot. In a good way.
This was released digitally back in February but I've been waiting for the LP, which finally shipped. Worth the wait!

Minneapolis band she’s green makes songs inspired by the natural world. “Moss rock”, they jokingly call it. Their EP, Wisteria, is lovely. “Purple” is my favorite track full of all my favorite things: breathy vocals, thick rhythm section, textured guitar, and soaring keys.
