I don't do many preorders of anything, but I love the hell out of shooting games of all kinds- sometimes I gotta jump. Dezatopia came out in 2020 and I've had it on both my Switch and Steam wishlists digitally since then, it's supposed to be great. It's actually the very FIRST thing on my Switch wishlist from all those years ago! So when I heard it was coming out physical with Mecharitz, it was a no brainer. Sure, it took a long time to get here (I preordered in July and just got it now in December). But to me, the wait was worth it. In addition to the cartridge with both games and a manual, it came with another separate book, a CD of the soundtrack, and a poster.
So psyched to try both of these.

I rarely pre-order ANYTHING, much less a game, but sometimes I make exceptions. I've been wanting to grab Dezatopia on Switch for so long, it's literally the first thing I ever put on my Switch wishlist many years ago (which now has like, a couple hundred games on it). I was waiting for it to go on sale but it never really did. I'm glad I waited, really. I dig physical games, and now there's this combo that includes Mecha Ritz. GREAT bang for the buck. My first #gamedev projects with Visual Basic were simple. I'd take a picture container, stetch it over the window form, and boom, that was my background. I could load images into it, and scroll it with simple commands. I could put other picture boxes inside that picture box, like sprites, albeit with no alpha channel. I could send events on key down, which let me map the keyboard to stuff. I made quite a few simple #platformers and #shmups this way.

Horizontal arcade style shootemup Cycle Chaser H-5 is coming to Switch January 24 (it's been on Steam since 2023). This is another great looking one from Ratalaika Games. It has hand-drawn and vector-rendered 2D graphics, an FM soundtrack produced in YM2612, three weapon styles with three attack types each, and Free Run mode which makes the game accessible for all experience levels (I love stuff like that).
