  1. Today we check in on the latest explosive #eruption of #Shiveluch back on 29 March using various satellite sources and a nearby balloon sounding #YouStormVolcano youtu.be/KR9nJ_CL1PU

  2. The eruption cloud of #Shiveluch 🌋 #Kamchatka seen today by the Aqua #MODIS 🛰️polar orbiting satellite. The thick plume at the time of this image is about 400 km long

  3. Eruption of #Shiveluch 🌋Kamchatka seen today by #Himawari-9 🛰️with ash cloud moving out across the north Pacific

  4. Eruption plume from #Shiveluch 🌋 , #Kamchatka drawn along the arc of the Aleutian Islands by a large extratropical cyclone in the Bering Sea seen yesterday by #Himawari9 🛰️(bit of jerking due to missing frames). Cirrus clouds looming across the bottom are from ex-Typhoon Ampil.

  5. Outstanding radar image of the #Shiveluch #volcano.
#Radar data is not affected by cloud cover or rain. It can be acquired day or night, and often penetrates snow down to bedrock, unlike optical data (e.g. #Sentinel2, #landsat ).
Acquired on April 17, it shows the immense collapse of the crater, and potentially a growing lava lobe.
Kudos to @RaphaelGrandin and Alina Shevchenko for their work in the area and Capella Space for providing the image.

  6. CW: Satellite image (radar) of ongoing volcanic eruption

This spectacular image shows the #Shiveluch volcano (Russia) after a recent eruption on Apr 10. #SAR provides a unique opportunity to image the status of the volcano. Experts have looked at our data & noticed a possible new lava dome forming. #volcano

  7. RT @kosmi64833127: Eruption of #Shiveluch #volcano in #Kamchatka.

New image taken by @CopernicusEU #Sentinel3 shows long plume and large area covered by volcanic ash ( still, ash-covered area seems to be much smaller than i thought yesterday ).
