I just send out what I anticipate will be the final thing for the #MysteryDungeon book for #LimitedRun. The two people editing it have been very quiet lately, making me wonder if they are despairing that it'll ever be finished. #SpikeChunsoft suddenly releasing their first new #Shiren game in 16 years put me into a bit of a scramble. I've worked so hard on it. I feel like breaking down and crying about it.

I finished #Shiren 6's megadungeon's "hard mode." There doesn't seem to be much reward for it, but the new title screen is fun!

CW: Discussion of finishing Shiren 6's final dungeon
Finished the final dungeon in #Shiren 6. Turns out the trick to build a high-plus super sword is an excellent strategy. The rest of the dungeon was building up an inventory for emergencies and trying to fill out my Rune profile. I finished at XP Level 70.
- Eradicating Polygons turned out to be a good move. Without their obnoxious attacks lowering maximum hunger, getting to Sumo status was much easier, and that made both monsters and traps much easier to deal with.
- Probably the most important runes were Rustproofing (of course), and protection from Dragons and Magic from Skull Mage family.
- I made heavy use of the "Frontal Assault" Rune, to attack around corners.
- I wore a Cleansing Bracelet (to help keep up Strength) and a Clairvoyance Bracelet (to see monsters out of sight and find out where the items were).

A great trick for the final bonus megadungeon, the usual 99-level one, in #Shiren 6 is:
* Find a Upgrading Pot. They're basically only in this dungeon and I think one other. This means you have to identify it or otherwise deduce what it is, which is no easy feat, especially since there's a Downgrading Pot that has many of the same properties.
* Put three miscellaneous weapons, or shields, in it. It doesn't matter so much what they are so long as they don't have any adverse Runes (those that cause equipment to erode)
* While you progress through levels, each of those items will be getting a +1 each floor until the pot breaks.
* When it finally does, each will have possibly around a +10 bonus. That's good by itself, but...
* Use Synthesis Pots or Mixer monsters to merge all three with your main weapon/shield for a huge attack/defense bonus!My sword in my current Heart of Serpentcoil Island run is +48, and I'm only about a third the way through it. Let's hope my luck holds out!

Got to floor 44 of the #Shiren 6 megadungeon. Guh. Fruh. Bluh. Pluh. Mnuh. Sbuh. Wkuh.
The floors in the 30s, with level and max hunger drainers, seem like a real hassle. Then you get to the 40s, and it turns out the theme there is TANKS.

#Shiren 6 has been very enjoyable for me. It's been fairly easy for me mostly, but only because I'm a veteran of the #MysteryDungeon by now. I'm in the final megadungeon now, and it's pretty hard, and I'm loving it.
Shiren 6 has been a lot more subdued in its features over Shiren 5. Shiren 5 feels like it was meant to be a kitchen sink game, with nearly every feature. For example, it has both Revive Grass _and_ Undo Grass, which basically do the same thing. Shiren 6 pares down the features a lot. It doesn't even have Escape Scrolls! When you play the game of Mystery Dungeons, either you win or you die. Probably die.
