There's no dark fairytailish take, but mental disorders and traumas are well depicted. And the romance is beautifully done too!
#ShinHyeSun is becoming one of my favorite Korean actresses. She really nailed the double personality and the portrayal of the pain she went through.

It's like 4 in 1, even at 54 episodes, it flies by. The acting is good, although Shin Hye Sun's character is quite irritating at times. Most of the other characters become quite lovable.
A bit predictable, but the main couple is so good - showing rational behavior & good communication, even with a crazy family. Their elders, drove me crazy, but it was fun watching the adult kids deal with them.
Interesting to see how stigmatized situations - 1 parent households, infidelity & family interconnections were handled.

Welcome to Samdal-ri
(2023 - 16 1:10 eps)Raised together in a village on Jeju island, the leads' romance is inevitable, but for drama reasons, they are torn apart. At 1st this seemed very flat. Although there are some great actors, there wasn't enough depth to the characters & the FL wasn't very likable.
The writing could have been better, but the side stories eventually worked to support the main story & gave lessons about needing & accepting help from family, friends, & village. OK romance - best friends in love instead of passionate lovers, which fits the story. Some side stories could have been better - problems were instantly resolved with a couple of sentences.
Jeju is beautiful. Diving is interesting. Kim Mi Kyung is fabulous, as always. The 2 sisters are cute & fun, & the little girl is just the best! Not the drama I thought it would be, but a decent watch.

Mr. Queen (2020 - Viki, 20 1hr 15min episodes)I really didn't know what to expect going into this drama. It turned out to be one of the funniest, sweetest, vicious, and intriguing dramas yet for me. It is hilarious, but I also cried! Shin Hye-sun is so good as a male chef from current times in the Joseon period - I don’t know how she did it, but it was totally believable. I did not like the King at first, but his character really grew on me. The chemistry between the leads is also great. It is such an original story I couldn't begin to guess how everything would resolve. The supporting characters were so good.
One of my favorites of all time! It has great music and beautiful costumes and scenery along with such an interesting story and superb acting.
