Stimmt. Ich habe mich lange mit einem #shift6mq rumgeplagt. Der Screen ist mir dreimal kaputt gegangen – ohne große Stürze. Als es dann nicht mehr laden wollte, hatte ich keine Lust mehr auf Bastelarbeiten. Jetzt bin ich froh, mir irgendwann ein gebrauchtes Pixel gekauft zu haben, damit ich GrapheneOS nutzen kann. Nicht zuletzt weil der eingebaute Lautsprecher viel besser klingt. Auch das Mikrofon ist viel besser – endlich versteht mich die Gegenseite. Und die Kamera erst!

Ein weiteres Problem war, dass sich bei Shift nur ein Mensch um die Software kümmerte. Ich hatte das angeblich entgooglete ShiftOS-L installiert, aber das wurde nicht richtig aktuell gehalten und hatte diverse Bugs, die nie gefixt wurden. ShiftOS-L ist eigentlich nur ein pures Android ohne Bloatware. GrapheneOS ist so viel besser.

#Phosh and Phoc had nightlight support since ages but the only phone with out of the box gamma LUT support that could make use of it so far was the #PinePhone.

Thanks to @fizzo 's kernel work it works on Qualcomm based phones too now and makes the (optional) night light quick toggle useful on way more devices and looking at the bright AMOLED displays at night much more pleasant.

I've broken my #shift6mq #shiftphone dual boot #postmarketOS - #android setup. I'm stuck in a "fastboot mode" boot screen. So far I'm unable to fix the problem. Anyone suggestions?

Gestern kam dann das neue #Display endlich an, mit neuer Panzerglasfolie on top sowie Reinigungstücher. Das Display ließ sich wunderbar einfach austauschen und alles funktioniert wieder tadellos. Sicherung auch gleich nachgeholt.
Wie gut, dass das ohne weiteres möglich ist, dank #modular aufgebautes #Smartphone von @shiftphones. Ich liebe das #Shift6mq und die Arbeit und Philosophie von Shift. Herzlichen Dank an dieser Stelle. 💚

Ich möchte höflich fragen, wann ich für das #SHIFT6mq mit einem Sicherheitsupdate für Android rechnen darf? Die Informationen auf eurer Website sind 6 Wochen alt. Das letzte Update ist 9 Monate her.😒Euer eigener Anspruch ist spätestens alle 4 Monate...
Und ich dachte, euer Anspruch sei auch häufiger zu informieren.
Ich nutze das Phone für online Banking und fühle mich zunehmend unwohl und nicht mehr sicher.

Note that with all of this in place, camera support on a lot of other devices is in close reach. For example the #OnePlus6 and #SHIFT6mq should only need kernel patches enabling the camera sensors. The softwareISP should then - at least in theory - "just work". Well, fingers crossed :)

P.S.: the one device where this already worked is the #PinePhonePro - but until recently it broke audio. That was also fixed in the process.

P.S.S.: maybe I'm a bit too optimistic regarding QC devices, see below

@frebelt Wenn mein #SHIFT6mq irreparabel kaputt ist, geht es zurück an den Hersteller @shiftphones (wenn es den dann noch gibt), und dafür bekomme ich die 20€ Pfand zurück, die im Kaufpreis enthalten waren. #ShiftPhones recycelt das dann ordentlich. Finde ich sehr fair.

Wochenende bedeutet: Endlich habe ich Zeit, mein erstes modulares #Smartphone in Betrieb zu nehmen.

Leider liefert @shiftphones auch das #SHIFT6mq mit einem total vergoogelten #Android aus. Aber dieses Modell soll so #CustomROM-freundlich sein wie kein #Shiftphone zuvor.

Mein 1. Eindruck bestätigt das: Der erste Schritt beim Aufspielen eines alternativen Smartphone-Betriebssystems ist bekanntlich das Aktivieren der Entwickleroptionen durch eifriges Tippen auf die Build-Nummer ganz unten in den ⚙ Einstellungen bei „Über das Telefon“.

Danach gibt es in ⚙ System → Erweitert ganz unten den neuen Menüeintrag { } Entwickleroptionen. Jetzt kommt die positive Überraschung: Ich kann dort den Schalter bei OEM-Entsperrung umlegen, obwohl ich mit diesem Smartphone noch nie im Netz war!

Das war bei den letzten beiden Smartphones, die ich #entgoogelt habe (#Fairphone3 und #BQ Aquaris X) anders. Da war diese Option ausgegraut, bis ich online gegangen war und Google meinem Gerät eine permanente #AdID zugewiesen hatte.

Ich habe heute meine #PineTime von der Post geholt und in Betrieb genommen.
Aktuell mit #InfiniTime in der aktuellen Version 1.10. Kann mir aber einen Wechsel zu #waspOS vorstellen, wegen Python, statt C++.
Gekoppelt mit einem #SHIFT6mq mit #ShiftOSLight (also die OS Version ohne Google Dienste)
Falls ihr Fragen habt, kann ich sicher in ein paar Tagen was dazu sagen.

@Mehrad @andri @z3ntu Also if you want an alternative phone that is focussing on the same things as FairPhone is consider looking into #shiftphones. Full disclosure, as #postmarketOS developers we got some free phones from them to develop mainline Linux support and get our system working well on it, but so far their #SHIFT6mq turns out to be really nice and it follows the same values as #FairPhone does.
