Just managed to make SherpaTTS the default on my phone and now Comaps is talking to me! 🤩 Can't wait to try it out in the wild!

@jibbolus I totally get that. My mind is very chaotic and if the devices I use cannot keep up with me, I really suffer. So far, no experiences of that kind with the #Fairphone6. At least none of note. #FUTO Keyboard's voice typing is very fast, and I can use larger models for better accuracy as well, which I'm really happy with. I can also use #SherpaTTS for nice quality text-to-speech. GlaDOS is a particularly pleasant voice to use, so I feel like that is a bit slow. I will try a slimmer model.

Has A LOT if diff. languages/speakers and 8 from 11 german speakers do sound acceptable human/realistic.

What is there apart from #SherpaTTS that is fast and supports many languages?

What components do you want to replace? My only issue currently is the need for multilingual models (german-english) as otherwise it is unusable for me.

Working on #adacompliance by trying to integrate a #texttospeech engine into #AOSP

#espeak has been deemed too low quality, and #sherpaTTS too slow. #RHVoice silently fails on our hardware, and I'm running out of options. Does @GrapheneOS have a TTS engine that would be commercially friendly enough for us to push it via OTA update? Or would anyone recommend one?

We work with a sensitive population and lack of a screen reader can make things even more difficult for some.

Someone updated #easyspeak to put on #GrapheneOS and saved me a ton of time. A custom #AOSP based OS I've been working with needed a TTS service for our proprietary app and the devices we have didn't have one. I need to make a few modifications so we don't have to configure it for every device we have, but #FOSS has saved me a significant amount of headache.

#SherpaTTS also worked well, but required too many resources and I didn't have enough vespene gas to justify building more pylons...

@Nagaram on #fdroid there is #SherpaTTS. I use it with #OsmAnd .
I never had the need for other usecases.

Jag har länge kört med #LineageOS tillsammans med #microg för att slippa google på min telefon. Det funkar kanon verkligen, och det är nästan aldrig att en app inte vill funka trots avsaknad av google play tjänster.

Nåt som jag däremot saknat länge är en bra text-till-tal-motor så att jag kan få text uppläst när jag exempelvis kör bil. Fram tills nu. #SherpaTTS. Vilken grej! Jag kan alltså få svensk text genererad till röst LOKALT PÅ MIN TELEFON, och det funkar till och med ganska bra!

Estoy FLIPANDO con la calidad que tiene #SherpaTTS con el modelo en español tipo low. El que menos espacio requiere y el que mejor lo hace, pero a años luz de los TTS que traen Google o Pocket, por nombrar algunos. Me encanta ✨😍

@MXC48 @niavy Oh, wow ! Je viens de tester #Sherpa #TTS, c'est une dinguerie. Les progrès sont spectaculaires entre il y a quelques années, où je trouvais limite que des voix hyper robotiques, en dehors de la #SynthèseVocale de #Google, et maintenant ^^
