Here’s all of the #SilentFilm on this week’s TCM schedule: “Sherlock, Jr.” (1924) on late night Tuesday to celebrate #AprilFoolsDay and #SilentSundayNights will have the sports dramedy “The New Klondike” (1926).

I just watched Shelock Jr. (Buster Keaton, 1924) and rated it 9/10 ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlock_Jr. #films #cinema #cinemastodon #SherlockJr #BusterKeaton

I don't know why but #BusterKeaton was never in the same rotation in Icelandic TV as #CharlieChaplin or #LaurelAndHardy.

I just saw #SherlockJr for the first time and it is clearly a work of genius.

#LetterboxdFriday and a somewhat... corrected #lastfourwatched as two of the films in my "Recent Activity" at Letterboxd is just Blu ray-extras that I wouldn't count.

So, my "real" last four:
Sabata
King of New York
Cemetary Without Crosses
Sherlock, Jr.

The infamous stunt that lead to Buster Keaton literally breaking his neck and then not finding out until years later

Luckily for Buster there basically weren’t any traffic laws back then (at least as far as I can tell from watching silent films)

Critics at the time claimed that “Sherlock Jr” was lacking in stunts and special effects but nowadays literally every human alive disagrees with that and we’re right.

And yes that’s Buster’s dad Joe Keaton in these scenes.. He’s in quite a few of Buster’s movies from 1918 all the way into the mid-1930s

”Sherlock Jr” was initially considered Buster’s first real failure in film but is now considered one of the first major examples of surrealism in an American mainstream film. Also, it’s sweet little romcom.
