@jimbob There are a bunch of video games where you need to do actual programming inside the game to accomplish things, without being games about programming.
For example: #Stationeers requires the user to program microcontrollers using MIPS-like assembly and insert them into devices
The Zachtronics puzzle games (e.g. #ShenzhenIO) are all fundamentally about programming.
If 10yo is already into gaming, this could be a good way to learn the basics.

I've been trying out the game SHENZHEN I/O (https://www.zachtronics.com/shenzhen-io/), and have enjoyed the assembly-like coding-based puzzle solving. So, I'm trying something new: playing a game in order to teach. We'll play the game from the beginning while I explain assembly concepts as we go!
