The rain was falling steadily as I photographed this sign on the Sheep’s Head peninsula.
Curious about the sign, I looked up The Anchorage and found this for sale page saying it was recently sold, but an archive.org copy from 2019 shows the seller was looking for €695,000 back then.

Donkeys in the Rain
The rain is back! After weeks of blistering sun we're getting a dose of ordinary Irish weather again except the rain is warm. Four donkeys in a field gathered around, curious to see me on the road with an umbrella held precariously over my head, protecting my camera. I hope they have some shelter in a nearby ruin. -
Feeder traffic at Carbery Cottage
The feeder at Carbery Cottage Guest Lodge on the Sheep's Head is inside a rusted steel cage, so I couldn't get a single photo without bars in it. It also stops crows and larger birds getting at the food! The great tits were juveniles, still yellow in the cheek and a bit ragged about the head, and they spent more time hanging off the wire than actually feeding. Kitte Kat stares out from the bushes at us as she contemplates making friends, or enemies. She chose the former and walked out after myself and my dog, Diego. She allowed me to rub her head before wandering off into the garden again at Carbery Guest Lodge on Sheep’s Head, Co Cork.
She was raised by the family dog, Sisken, from an early age and thinks she’s a dog, but sometimes they get confused when she doesn’t run from them!

Sheep’s Head Sunset
Over the weekend I stayed in a B&B on Sheep’s Head in Co. Cork and of course I had to photograph the sunset from the headland. I shared another photo taken on the same night recently, but I’ve photographed the sunset in this part of the world several times. A lovely evening for a photo excursion.

Over the weekend I stayed in a B&B on Sheep’s Head in Co. Cork and of course I had to photograph the sunset from the headland. I shared another photo taken on the same night recently, but I’ve photographed the sunset in this part of the world several times.
I wasn’t expecting much as there were thick clouds on the horizon, but I liked the way the light lit up the cloud, and the foreground bushes added a bit of depth too.
What you’re seeing over there in the distance is the Beara Peninsula. Another beautiful part of the country!

O'Neil's is worth the detour to Wanchese, loved walking in and seeing folks trimming fresh catch in the back. It's picnic tables and informal. I had the catch of the day ( #sheepshead ! ) with fries & coleslaw. Their menu is small because they're primarily a seafood market.
Stayed in Avon this trip but saw the Yelp reviews for O'Neil's and couldn't resist. 😋
