[Review] 中國超人 (The Super Inframan) (1975)
… I’m not tired of the superhero genre, per se, just Hollywood’s lately very dull conception of it. Case in point: sitting down to rewatch The Super Inframan, the Shaw Brothers’ attempt at a tokusatsu-style superhero movie, confirmed for me all over again that this is one of my favorite efforts from the venerable studio.

#KungFu people: I'm trying to remember what kung fu movie has a scene in which Gordon Liu jumps from log to log in a pond while practicing his pole technique. Is this 8 Diagram Pole Fighter? I'm not talking about the scene in 36th Chamber where he has to balance on the spinning logs to cross the little moat.

Liu, a former student of the anti-Qing patriot Ho Kuang-han, is forced to flee after his teacher and many students are killed in an attack orchestrated by the Ching authorities. Seeking vengeance and strength, Liu travels to the Shaolin Temple where he begins his arduous training in the famed 35 chambers.
The 36th Chamber of Shaolin received critical acclaim and is widely considered to be one of the greatest kung fu films ever made and a highly influential entry in the genre.
