Originally commissioned as a poster an international children’s literature award in Germany celebrating the anniversary of the wall coming down in 1989. Fruit had came to symbolise the freedom of the west from an eastern perspective, something the wall blocked for so many years. The concept was that fiction was a kind of ‘exotic fruit'.

Shaun Tan has a new book out! ‘Creature’ is a dreamlike collection of sketches & paintings celebrating the marvellously strange inhabitants of his imaginary worlds. I’m always awed by the power of his images to stir deep feelings of wonder, unease & curiosity. His essays on art, nature & humanity are profoundly thoughtful & poetic. Whimsical, dramatic, haunting & tender. Highly recommended.
