There’s a new version of #Scarfield! Don’t know why #NexusMods only told me about it today, when it was uploaded on October 25th, but strangely great timing
It doesn’t include #ShatteredSpace support, but that’s fine by me. I’m gonna bail on Constellation and make a beeline for the #OceansOfBlood #Terrormorph #RedMile challenge anyway.

Hate to admit it, but I haven’t really been enjoying the new #NASAPUNK2330 after coming straight out of #Scarfield
So I’m reminding myself how good it is by tormenting myself resuming my original #VanillaStarfield playthrough on #Xbox — and I have to wonder, how did I even make it to Level 211 and through ten universes without any mods in the first place?

First #CTD since starting my second #Scarfield playthrough, and just when I was beginning to think nothin’ could crash it, too. Seriously, it’s freaky how much more stable #Starfield is with Scarfield than without—I’ve been pushing the game harder than ever before, but then I got complacent and wound up losing so much loot it’s not even funny.
Get this. I’m mid-rampage somewhere in the wilds of #Varuunkai (I lost track of even where, that’s how long this I kept this rampage going), up against a triple-threat of #VaruunZealots, #VortexPhantoms, and #Spacers, all at once, massacring them wholesale with a Starborn Dual-Dagger (from zone79’s Melee Madness pack). And I’m KILLING IT. Never-you-mind the you-can-never-win attitude of Scarfield where hostiles are always around double your level or higher, kitted out to match. I don’t give a shit, because I’m fuelled by pure PTSD-rage, and fury, and willpower, and let’s not forget, strategy and skill. And there, after I’ve already taken out all the zealots, I swirl around to take out the last cowardly Vortex Phantom that pops in behind me then finish off the boss Legendary Spacer in front of me with a single slash to the neck, and THAT’s when the game crashes.
So alright, okay, you win this round, Scarfield. But I’ll be back tomorrow with a vengeance.

First #Scarfield / #ShatteredSpace WTAF:
No matter what I do I can’t get my damn starship to land at the Dazra spaceport. It keeps dumping me at the Hollow Bluff Depot instead.
So now I’ve got to walk. And take in the many sights and wonders of the Va’ruun’kai wilderness before walking the path of the serpent and playing politics with the noble houses.
Wait, why am I complaining?

Okay. As of this morning I’m (finally!) testing #Scarfield against actual #ShatteredSpace content.
Naturally that means I also had to finally choose a compatible auto-loot mod as well, ‘cause as I’ve said before GODDAMMIT SHATTERED SPACE HAS TOO MUCH LOOT! I want to focus on testing Scarfield against Shattered Space’s unique elements, not completely overstim myself into a stupor for a third time.
Goin’ with #LazyScav by #NexusMods user #Aurelianis. Link attached. So far so good, although it might need to be patched for explicit Shattered Space support. It seems to be leaving some of the new DLC items behind and isn’t stripping corpses on The Oracle, but these corpses are also wearing new clothing and armor DLC items, so at least it’s consistent, and I still get to manually loot a little for a healthier amount of stimming.
UPDATE: never mind, Lazy Scav is working perfectly, looting absolutely everything, even equipped clothing from corpses—I just had to change cells for it to work fully. I decided to leave the auto-looting of locked containers feature off, though, because I paid for and love “Lock O’Plenty” from the Creations store, which adds a bunch of actually fun hacking minigames to improve the lockpicking experience over the infuriatingly-tedious vanilla lockpicking minigame (which I resent being so good at).

It definitely feels like the entire #Scarfield experience has been ruined by the latest #Starfield version and #ShatteredSpace
For starters, the brilliant and perfect strategic difficulty system with inverse scaling has somehow been subsumed by a reasserted vanilla-style handicap-based modifier difficulty system on whiteout; EVERYTHING is a legendary armored bullet-sponge, even the bloody heatleeches
The broken strategic difficulty system is more obvious with human enemies, who don’t seem to realize they have grenades until you throw one at them, but then start volleying a (physically impossible) shower of grenades in this really tweaked out way. So I analyzed the glitch-out pattern and created an algorithm in my head to exploit the glitch out with timed attacks. Next thing I know there’s a body pile of 5 Crimson Fleet pirates all in a clump.
Stealth mechanics are also completely broken, but the glitch-outs are too numerous and bizarre to list.
But do I give up on my new and very broken Scarfield PT? Of course not. I can’t let go of anything. It’s literally a victory-by-pure-PTSD-rage playthrough at this point, bullet-sponges be damned.

There’s a few new strange bugs in the #Starfield base-game, that only appear after completing all of #ShatteredSpace’s main and side quests
So I restored my last hard save immediately before discovering The Oracle and am playing through Shattered Space again. Honestly it’s way more fun than the base-game main questline anyway.

CW: Starfield: Shattered Space (minor spoilers and gripes)
Oddly, Sam Coe has Serpent’s Crusade specific anger dialogue, while Barrett just has generic anger dialogue. I even followed the quest marker to talk to Sarah (even though she’s dead) just to see if the game had me argue with her corpse, but alas, her body had already been removed from the Eye and the quest marker was just floating above the spot you find her after The Hunter’s attack.
Anyway, I told both Sam and Barrett to take a hike. They’re such shit characters, I’m glad to be rid of them. Sigh. Until the next universe, anyway…
Grumble grumble

CW: Starfield: Shattered Space (minor spoilers alluding to side missions)
Okay, I think I’ve pretty much milked #ShatteredSpace for all its worth at this point. I’m down to running around Dazra like a Knight Errant, doing odd jobs for random citizens in the wake of the chaos at the Scaled Citadel while the High Council pussyfoots its way toward the Second Serpent’s Crusade. No really. They’re being so ginger about the whole thing, all agreeing in loud boasting words that it’s the Will of the Great Serpent—while diplomatically refusing to commit a single resource to the cause. Is it really too much to ask, to plunge the galaxy into total war?
I even walked the Path of Redemption, the slow way, following the guidebook to the letter, dancing in the pink and purple sheet lightning while merrily slaughtering Zealots and Spacers and random wildlife all the way, making a few short stops to pet the groats (of course). Don’t know what Andreja’s problem with them is. They’re downright fuzzy nuzzly furry friends.
OH SHIT WAIT
I forgot to visit the Tomb of the Fang!!

CW: Starfield: Shattered Space (Major Spoilers and One Serious Gripe)
One major issue I forgot to mention with #ShatteredSpace is that when you’ve completed the end-run and commit to the Second Serpent’s Crusade, your dead Constellation colleague murdered by The Hunter during “High Price To Pay” gets angry with you, and the mission log asks you to go speak with them to clear the air.
Hey #Bethesda, you know what you didn’t include in the #StarfieldUniverse? Any semblance of life after death. Immortality via The Unity? Sure. If you live long enough to get there. But no seances. No canonical resurrection of sentients. Reanimating corpses? Yeah, sure, as husks and extensions of a Starborn’s will—not the people they were.

CW: Starfield: Shattered Space (Major Spoilers and Historical Comparisons)
I was honestly only kidding around when I brought up the #SecondSerpentsCrusade in relation to #NASAPUNK2330
Leave it to #Bethesda to deliver in spades for the #ShatteredSpace main quest end-run. I’m STILL trying to emotionally process the (quite frankly excessive) degree of wanton and wholly unnecessary bloodshed.
Headcanon Aside:
You would think, canonically speaking, that choosing to go along with Anasko Va’ruun in restarting the Serpent’s Crusade would implicitly vindicate the Zealots and have them rally under your banner with their old noble house restored. Instead, Anasko decides to sacrifice you like so much groat, while the Zealots simply covet the power of the Vortex Gate and rabidly seek to claim it for themselves.
None of that is consistent with the psychology or sociology of an isolationist theocratic society. And yet, up until the end-run the narrative was so on-point that it made me sick to my stomach to play along as a dutiful convert to the Va’ruun faith. I’m not kidding. Not exaggerating for dramatic effect. I’m being absolutely literal. Every single “Serpent’s Embrace” dialogue option is physically, viscerally repulsive.
Let’s face it, the similarities between early Mormonism and House Va’ruun are very unlikely to be coincidental. The surface colouring of Iranian Shia Islam is more incidental, once you scratch beneath the surface and look at the pattern of the narrative as a whole. There are allusions to the real, historical crusades, but the story progresses play-by-play with Brigham Young’s “Deseret Empire”, the Mormon Doctrine of the United Order, and their own crusades against the United States spanning the whole Manifest Destiny period (colonization, pioneer days, conquest of the wild west, the Mexican War, the Civil War, subjugation and genocide of the Native American peoples, so on and so forth)

CW: Starfield: Shattered Space (Major Spoilers and Graphic Content)
Even for #Starfield I can scarcely believe they gave me the dialogue option “After all the bodies I left behind, the Fleet’s not the only thing that’s crimson.”
To be fair, the “Scientific Method” side quest turned out to be an all-out massacre above and beyond the wholesale slaughter of Zealots which marked the beginning of the Second Serpent’s Crusade—the streets of Dazra running neck-deep in the blood of heretics.
Like god damn #ShatteredSpace is fucked up. And yeah, sure, variations on a theme and all that. Could have predicted as much. This is House Va’ruun we’re dealing with here…
But still. #Scarfield is gonna have to kick shit up a notch (or two. or three) to keep pace with this kind of canon.
