She was so great. Glad I got to see her in concert once. Her voice could make even dopey white girls shake their hips with serious soul. And Daptone did such a great job of creating an accurate vibe for this, elevating it from beyond pastiche to true pop art like Andy Warhol’s Brillo boxes.

I'm sure everybody's all christmas-music-out'd by now, but another recent discovery for me is this one.
Pretty darn good. Although even Sharon, RIP, can't rescue Little Drummer Boy. And the Hannukah song seems awkward... But other than that... 💯

@ren When they were on tour just before her death they played Santa Cruz CA, where I was living at the time, and I REALLY wanted to go to the show (even though I really didn't know anything about them at the time) but couldn't due to personal commitments.
I SO wish I'd been able to go to that show. -sigh-
