  1. I really want to move us to S3-compatible storage but it looks like a pain to migrate existing files since it requires (to my knowledge) manually editing the file locations in the database. Has someone built a script or tool to handle this for misskey/sharkey?

  8. Ok, cool new feature for My Pocket Pals thanks to #Sharkey's advertisement feature. I will now periodically run some scripts that will:
    A) go check a list of 'cool servers' for what's trending
    B) get a popular image from a trending post
    C) put it in the sharkey drive and create an ad that will take someone to that hashtag to discover cool new posts!

  9. Many have asked and now you can donate directly, and support the ongoing costs and maintenance for https://nsfw.lgbt!

In fact, we pledge and promise to pay-it-forward and donate 20% of
your contributions upstream to the #Sharkey project to help fund and support their development costs since without Sharkey, there would be no #NSFWlgbt!

Effective immediately we are no longer accepting
#abuse #reports from https://kinkycats.org due to a pattern of reports for behavior that clearly does not violate our #rules, and frankly probably doesn't violate the rules of other instances as well.

    Therefore, effective
immediately, any future abuse reports will be silently #discarded and #ignored by https://nsfw.social. We won't even see them.

#Fedi users can still report abusive behavior by any of our users by emailing [email protected].

Abuse reports should only be used to report actual abusive behavior that is
#disrupting the experience of others on the #fediverse. Not to try to get one of our users suspended or banned simply because they do something you do not like.

We will not tolerate users of other instances using the "Report" feature to
#target, #harass, or #intimidate one of our users (or us).

Newsflash, I get every single report sent-in to nsfw.social and I have zero tolerance for bullshit from my users and especially from others.

You don't like a users' content? Be an adult and block them and move on.

    RE: mastodon.social/@reiver/114019

The number one cause of Fediverse servers crashing seems to be the storage drives filling up with cached Fediverse user data — posts, profiles, avatar images, header images, etc.

But, Misskey and the Misskey forks (ex: Firefish, Sharkey, etc) also have an additional challenge that fills up their storage drives —

  22. CW: fedi software meta question

okay hi so i need a senior fediverse software librarian to help me 🥺

    we are currently running
#sharkey. this was because #firefish and #iceshrimp had their whole fiasco which i wanted to stay clear of, but we still wanted fedi software with:
    - reasonable standards compliance
    - active development
    - features that are actually fun (emotes, cat mode, all the
    #misskey joys)
    - PWA for mobile
    - responsive ux and at least somewhat aesthetically pleasing ui

    have recently seen the name
#cherrypick pop up in global timeline & used by some of our friends.

and uh, the question is: what do? how do the different *key forks compare? and why do they exist?

re-{post,blog,note}s and rambles very welcome, the more opinions and details the merrier :)

i know nothing about any drama, except for the fact that when projects overlap it either happens or has happened
also, is this how you're supposed to use hashtags?

Put the mentioned words from the first post in a regex like this (delimit with a pipe)

  24. LIFEHACK: run a fedi instance? make sure you set it to approval-based registrations! it's a small step you can take to lightly vet new members and keep your community spambot (and other uncomfy thingies) free!

  25. Alright, #Sharkey.

    What're you about? #SharkeyAdmin

    I see:

    - a big ace community. (Did you know that some sharks asexually reproduce? Google automictic parthenogenesis, it's wild.) Also, #TransFem. A lot of it.
    - a deep love of Blahaj and IKEA. :BlobHajMlem:

What else is there? Looking for items for the inspiration board for developing sharkey.world's character/logo/banner/brand. #SharkeyWorld
