    > FOSS has a very unfortunate weak spot in its foundation, that being the idea that “free” implies “without ownership” rather than “equitably shareable”

    💯! Just dropped a #meme depicting how #SX considers #FOSS: social.coop/@smallcircles/1164

    #Equity is the word. I wrote a blog on #SharedOwnership earlier: coding.social/blog/shared-owne

Note, that "libertarianism" is emergent, comes with scale. I avoid the term for its political heat it often introduces, and how that stifles #solution-orientation.

    > I make product actually meet the users’ needs, cuz damn, you didn’t!

It's funny how actual #Needs are often totally unknown, esp. in FOSS. The #technology then quickly exists mostly for the sake of itself. Damn the externalities.

Social coding commons defines FOSS as the pure software artifact. Code + an open license. Period. All the rest is #SocialCoding where all #expectations we have are either implied and unjustified, or warranted with mutual understanding. The latter is hardly done.

  6. I've mentioned several times before that I have a 1/10th share in a narrowboat. It's a fantastic way of winding down and having a cheap holiday.
One of the other syndicate members is selling his share for only £300 (he lives in America and a change of job means he'll not be able to use the boat in the next few years), with weeks already booked in September/October.

  7. #inflation is overwhelming every area of our #lives. Even small #groceries increase10p each time you #shop. #Insurance, #Electricity, #gas, #fuel, & #rent all eyewatering. Try to #budget & the #landlords, #shareholders & #elite manage without fail to pour #misery on us to enforce #poverty. #SharedOwnership became a way to get a #home for you & your #family. Predictable #mortgages & #rents for a while enabling budgeting. Then WHAM #servicecharges increase 41%

  8. @mxtthxw My flat is #SharedOwnership and I'm trapped by the #CladdingScandal. I have to deal with rental shit and owner shit at the same time. There's so much corruption and greed in #housing, generally.

  9. Thoughts on Nov 7th #SharedOwnership Conference at CU Boulder. Rose/Bud/Thorn:

    Roses:
@ntnsndr playing key role, bringing people together
Interesting range of projects & coop forms.
Brought three great organizers up from COS -> more convo about coops. (@natstein )
    IRL time with @clayton

    Thorns:
"shared ownership" frames coops as models of property not as movement orgs aiming at solidarity.

    Buds:
excited about potential for coop dev in CO, and reminded of need for solidarity econ framework
