Damn. Tutorialed with #Shapr3D for 1.5hr now and my little toe tickles like "wanna study mechanical engineering". 😅

#Shapr3D has a new generative render mode that works pretty well for making visualizations of a 3D CAD model. I made a short video.
I do find that I'm exceptionally conflicted on these new tools. Privacy, energy, and training data are all problematic. Many people I follow are either all-in or hard-no, and I get those perspectives. Its the middle ground where the tools are used thoughtfully, and not to simply shovel out slop where I find my internal struggle.
Anyway…

From the perspective of presenting #3DModels, this is a real step forward. #Shapr3D has added a new feature to its software. I know many people are rolling their eyes right now because it's AI. But I don't care. After all, the results speak for themselves.

Just out of curiosity: Are there any other #Shapr3D users here, or am I the only one?

I'm currently rebuilding my website. It's amazing what you can do with #Publii. It's still my favourite static website generator.
I started with one of my projects, the #NeXT #SoundBox mini. I tweaked the #CSS and custom #JavaScript. I think I can use that as a basis for the rest of the website. 😃

Looking to add a built-in window seat/blanket storage to a bay window. Tonight I got started drafting a model of the window as it is today in #Shapr3D, and can begin figuring out the pieces tomorrow.

The design process for my Raspberry Pi ono case is complete. It consists of 15 3D printed parts. Do you think it's overengineered? 🤓
As always, watch the live rendering here:

I just added a quick and simple #3DModel to #MakerWorld. It's a wall mount for two #Bosch PBA 18V batteries.

Mist, meine #3DConnexion #SpaceMouse ist kaputt. Eine Achse funktioniert nicht mehr. 😟

For three months now, I've had a #P1S in addition to my #BambuLab #X1C. I've had the Panda Touch Display from #BigTreeTech since January of this year. It's a great device. But now it's time to find its place on the P1S.
For this purpose, I have designed a dock that can be tilted with a hinge, similar to the one on the X1C. I have missed this feature in all the docks and mounts that have been available so far.

I'm just using it for solo projects, but I am continually impressed with #shapr3d on the iPad. It's by far the most intuitive CAD software I've used – the gestures and Apple Pencil functionality is exactly what I expect every time. I can model things so quickly now, it's awesome!
Now if only Bambu Labs would release their slicer software for the iPad, it would be a perfect workflow...

Hello masto :blobfoxwave:
Est ce qu’il y a des utilisateurs de Shapr3D par ici ? :shapr3d:

I wish it had a more affordable hobbyist tier, but man, #shapr3d on the iPad is so cool! It’s extremely intuitive to draw models up with the Apple Pencil and the app runs so well (it had better, given my iPad has an M-series chip). Love the visualization mode too. If you can afford it and want to model from your iPad, I think it’s worth the investment.
-
Maybe it's totally over engineered. However, I really like it. I even designed an SD-Card insertion/removal tool for my #xtouch enclosure. 😃
-
thinking of getting a 3d printer later. does the bamboo labs line work well with ipad, and shapr3d files?

Looking for an alternative for #Shapr3D for simple #3DPrinting modelling (Shapr3D is nice, but it’s just too expensive for what it offers me, plus the whole cloud part of it). macOS or cloud, but really prefer running locally.
Tried #Onshape, but don't like it. I once tried #FreeCAD but immediately got lost. #Plasticity might be the best alternative, although it's also not very cheap (but at least it's a one-time payment, not subscription-based like Shapr3D).
-
@trevorflowers I use #Shapr3D, which unfortunately costs a LOT of money per year. That's why I take a look at FreeCAD from time to time. But somehow I can't find the right approach to this software...

After finishing my #TouchID button (the wired version), I decided to design a wireless version, too. It uses the built in battery from the „Magic Keyboard with Touch ID“. The battery still can be charged through the Lightning port, but the button operates wireless.
The good thing of this design: It needs only 2 screws! 🤓
-
After finishing my project, I wrote a short blog post about. It will be updated and refined in the next days and I will publish the 3D model on #MakerWorld as well.
-
[x] Project done.
My independent Touch ID button is ready and working. Removed from a broken Apple Magic Keyboard and built into a self-designed case.
For anyone interested in making their own button, you’ll find the model on #MakerWorld:

Here you can view a live rendering of the current model.

View of the exploded cross section of my speaker. At the moment, these are all parts.
BUT: I still need to figure out where I'm going to mount the terminal, and where I'm going to route cables through it.... 🤔
Any ideas?
