Since I just got myself a pair of smart crutches, and since #AccessibilityIsHotAF I've ripped off the branding stickers. My intent is to trick out these puppies.

So I've traced the sticker shape and scanned it with the #Shaper Trace. Any ideas for designs and inspiration? I'm thinking gothic, intricate, lace and bones.

3D-printern har ni redan sett. Sedan skulle vi fräsa ur en labyrint ur fyra olika brädor. Vi skulle testa en handhållen #Shaper som funkar genom en referenstejp med dominomotiv. Sedan kan man säga att maskinen projicerar det man tänkt fräsa ovanpå ämnet och så följer man en linje som visar hur man ska flytta fräsen. Kör man av banan lyfts verktyget så man inte kör fel.

I celebrated finally having a vise for the shaper by experimenting with linear knurling tonight.

Discovered #vectr, a web-based #svg tool - basic but great for simple tasks. Any other makers here, especially with a milling background? Which tools do you use to prep #gcode?

Finished the T-nuts. Not perfect, but perfectly functional, and a good first project to start figuring things out. #shaper #machining

Got a full roughing pass done on the shaper. This was, indeed, much easier with the clapper working properly.

Fun new failure mode, though: the table advance adjustment knob kept coming loose, letting the amount the table moved over during the retract phase drift up or down without warning! Seems to be fixed with a bit of lube on the washer, so it couldn't unscrew the knob so easily as it oscillates back and forth.

The clapper box actually claps now! This will make using the thing a lot less tedious, since I won't have to push it back into position manually after each pass. #shaper #restoration

Starting to improve my surface finish on the roughing passes, and the finishing tool I made is giving a really amazing surface finish, far better than anything I've ever achieved in steel on the mill. #shaper #machining

Made a "backstop" that bolts directly to the T-nuts, cranked down HARD. So far, it's working to prevent the workpiece from slipping. #shaper #machining
