1. I have tried recording at least a few hours of attempts at a video for my shamisen teacher where I make it through a song I’ve been learning without major song stopping mistakes, and I FINALLY did it.

Making progress on this new song I’m trying to learn on my #shamisen. My wife heard me playing it, and said it was her mom’s favourite song…so I’m going to give it my all to try and get this one down.

So…I was practicing the song I’m supposed to for my shamisen lesson, and it’s the only song for this one tuning…but I found a WAY more interesting song in the book, and retuned the shamisen to try and learn it (I mentioned how I dislike retuning, right? 😂). Here’s what it sounds like when I am learning the song realtime for the first time.(if you like listening to that sort of thing) it will get better with more practicing…but now I want to practice this song instead of the one I was assigned 😂

Related to my last post post, I was listening to modern Shamisen , which I dearly love but I won't mention who because I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging that I am better than him. I was listening and I thought “he’s incredibly fast” and then I realized “his bachi is incredibly fast, but my left hand Sanxian is just as fast”. They are just different techniques. With a Shamisen, you hit every note with the bachi, on my Sanxian I’m playing with finger picks...
