Starting to learn a new more difficult song.
“Why must we suffer too, damian?”
I don’t know, you just do…or maybe you can just not listen to it. 😂 and yes it goes out of tune partway in as mentioned a post or so earlier. #shamisen -

This morning's #workout #music is from Mitsune who do a combination of traditional and modern shamisen (三味線) songs. At times their music made me think of the traditional pueblo music I remember from #NM - I am sure the connection is quite ancient.

1. I have tried recording at least a few hours of attempts at a video for my shamisen teacher where I make it through a song I’ve been learning without major song stopping mistakes, and I FINALLY did it.
2. There are still many small non song stopping mistakes. 😂
3. Here it is.

#Shamisen practice - Shounenjidai
Slowly making progress -
Lady Swordfighter 修羅女武者 – #seanWolcott
> A love letter to Japanese soundtracks and cinema, “Lady Swordfighter” is part sonic kabuki play, part cult exploitation soundtrack, featuring a cast of traditional Japanese instrument maestros, including the #shakuhachi, #koto, #shamisen, #taiko drums, and more. Journey through a soundscape of soulful ballads, haunting chants, blood-splattered guitars, head-chopping beats, and ominous horns

Incremental #shamisen improvements on Shounen Jidai.
The recording time is getting less, and pieces are fitting together a bit better also. -
Making progress on this new song I’m trying to learn on my #shamisen. My wife heard me playing it, and said it was her mom’s favourite song…so I’m going to give it my all to try and get this one down.
-
So…I was practicing the song I’m supposed to for my shamisen lesson, and it’s the only song for this one tuning…but I found a WAY more interesting song in the book, and retuned the shamisen to try and learn it (I mentioned how I dislike retuning, right? 😂). Here’s what it sounds like when I am learning the song realtime for the first time.(if you like listening to that sort of thing) it will get better with more practicing…but now I want to practice this song instead of the one I was assigned 😂

A little shamisen practice tonight, working on my next song in the book which it’s super choppy at the moment, so here’s a little random playing for fun. #shamisen
-
More shamisen practice - instead of the song practice that I am painstakingly slow at, this is me just playing around. I haven’t tried learning songs before, so this is normally what I do on my bass guitar - just make things up and play for fun without really knowing anything about music, sheet music, song structures, pretty much everything. 😂 #shamisen
-
Good thing I started learning shamisen, who knows when I would have had a chance to use my SpyxFamily page markers otherwise!

I wish I could have seen Wagakki band perform live.

The costumes, blend of rock with traditional Japanese instruments like a shamisen, bamboo flute, koto...
From an outsider's point of view, really unique and a work of art.

A cat: ‘They smoked pipes, played dice’
by Helen Sullivan"...This myth is still around today: domestic cats who live to be more than 10 years old become bakeneko. They kill their owners, walk around on their hind legs, and take over the home. Sometimes, they shapeshift into old women, or old women are said to actually be bakeneko. I hope this is my fate..."
