CW: 2500 year old language machine
#Phonology #Chomsky #Linguistics #NaturalLanguageComplexity
Penn and Kiparsky (2012) say: “through the lens of contemporary #NLP, the most amazing fact about the Aṣṭādhyāyī is not that it produces so many correct derivations, after all, but that it simultaneously avoids so many incorrect ones.”
Combine this with bhāva & abhāva padārtha as per Nyāya-Vaisheshika, and I guess there's a whole new line of research in #NLP.

@Suzie97 not sure if there's any online resource for learning #Sanskrit to read the old texts, but I have a doubt.
Why not refer books that have both the original and the #translation, along with the #transliteration in #English? 🤔
If you're open to it, get any of these 3:

@emilymbender even if we do use words to describe the world models, it's only for communication, not for interpreting or ruminating.
There was classification of everything in the universe 2 millennia ago. They can use that as a first threshold to cross, before they catch up with the current world modelling.
