Getting involved in undergraduate research has been a way for #SFUChemistry student Robby Yoshiro Williams-Sekiguchi to explore his interests and level up the skills he needs to thrive in his classes.
"The thought of being able to obtain a molecular structure and identify what atoms are present in my product just by shooting x-rays is simply amazing," he says.

One of the most pressing global health crises is the rise of antimicrobial drug resistance. Dennis Yu Liu developed an assay to study vulnerabilities unique to drug-resistant bacteria.
This assay has helped him discover new bioactive compounds that specifically target these bacteria and can act in combination with major antibiotics to suppress the emergence of drug resistance.
