Here's a shot of a vintage navy blue Kettle Creek Canvas shirtdress that I'm refreshing for #WipWednesday . Anybody remember them? It needed colour so all additions, including buttons are bright and multicoloured. I've changed the buttons, removed patch pockets, added belt loops, inset side pockets and a back kickpleat, lined the belt, and pinned on whimsical embellishments. Just started the multicoloured embroidery on the collar, more embroidery to come.

Almost every night I set aside my devices and read a book. It’s one of my favorite ways to wind down.
That simple pleasure inspired the bookmark project in my Make & Take Sewing Workshop.
Bookmarks are beginner-friendly, use fabric scraps, are quick to make, useful, and great handmade gifts.

Been doing some sewing lately. Here is a case cover I made for my husband's alto flute. Turned out pretty good! #flute #sewing #sewingproject

you must always have the courage to begin again, I say dramatically as I scrap one side of my a-line pants because I don't like how the pocket looks.

Can you guess what I'm making? #sewing #slowfashion #sewingproject

Nearly finished first version of the dress pattern. Really like how it turned out. Love the fabric.
The dress form has a shorter upper body than me, that's why it looks a bit too long.#sew #sewing #sewingproject #sewingpattern #pattern #patternlabel #craft #crafts #nähen #dress

Finally got to make this #blazer + retro #playsuit outfit. So happy with how this came together. One of my students wants to make the full playsuit, so I’ll get to make another while showing her the process. 😊 #diyfashion #retrostyle #slowfashion #sewingproject #summeroutfit

Ok, sewing people. I want a summer robe (of the kind to wear over pyjamas, not of the kind to go out), and I think I have settled for a Yukata style kimono (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yukata)
Now to choose the fabric

Blouse is nearly finished. Still missing hems, some topstitching, buttons and buttonholes.
I will make the pattern from a different (thinner) fabric again.
I'm quite happy with how the pattern came together. Hardly any changes needed! -
Easter monday, weather was not good, so i decided to practice with sewing. This time i made a zippered coin pouch.
Using fabric from an old t-shirt. Any suggestion/advice on how to improve?

modern filipiniana in two looks 🇵🇭
I wanted to make something fun but cohesive and could go from indoor to outdoor without much effort.
🪡 made from dyed abacá and woven cloth with katsa (recycled cheesecloth) lining
⌛ around 1 week including the prototype as it was my first time using abacá
🌸 made the bandana from the retaso; it reminded me of amorsolo paintings

more photos of the handmade blouse (taken in the edoya bathroom because lighting). this is a cheap cotton fabric mass produced in china but with "traditional" patterns, so its use is actually discouraged. for me though, since it costs just around 50 php/yard and is easy to cut and sew, it's a good way to practice pattern alignment before working with real indigenous fabrics which can cost up to x10. I'll show you the one I made with woven cloth from baguio soon!
