The Crimean peninsula, temporarily occupied by Russian war criminals, is a major supply hub for the occupying forces in southern Ukraine. The Ukrainian Army is probably less concerned with recapturing Crimea in the short term than with cutting off the war criminals in the south of their country from the supplies and logistics they need. If the Kerch Bridge is destroyed, it will more or less spell the end for the Russian troops in the south.

In the occupied Sevastopol, an electrical substation was blown up. According to Ukrainian intelligence, the operation was conducted by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
